What it does
For years, we’ve been consuming more video than ever… yet finding one specific moment inside a long video is still painfully slow and completely broken. Scrubbing timelines. Skipping 10 seconds. Hunting for that “somewhere around here” moment. It’s a workflow we just accepted! So over the last month, on weekends and late nights, I finally did. I built a way to search inside videos like you search inside documents. Type what you’re looking for → jump straight to the exact moment it happens.

Hello HN Over the New Year's break, I created semanticvideosearch.com. This can search any video based on meaning and context. I would love to get your feedback on it. What should I change and what can be improved? The preprocessed videos can be search very quickly, while the youtube video links take some time (yt videos also have a upper duration limit due to compute issues). I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it.
