Quiply

Always on, free to play version of Quiplash to train wit.

What it does

Quiply Free to play, easy, and anonymous. New prompt every 4 hours. Use it as a quick daily way to work your creativity muscle, or try to go for the top of the leaderboards. People often think “being witty” is something you either have or don’t. In practice it’s closer to a trainable stack of skills: noticing details, making associations, choosing an angle, and delivering a short line with good timing. Quiply nudges repetition: a small prompt, one punchy line, then you move on.

    Spindle, a cross between Wordle and a Rubik's Cube made in PHP2023 · playspindle.com · ▲65

Hi HN, I was late to wordle, so I am also late to making my own version. In Spindle, you rotate words on a grid with the aim of assembling the day’s target word. I enjoy it, so I thought some of you might enjoy it too. From a tech perspective, it’s a very simple Laravel / Livewire app. My happy place in recent years has been Typescript and SvelteKit, so this was a bit of an adjustment, but it allowed me to take advantage of an existing shared hosting server meaning no additional financial outlay. Happy to report a positive experience with PHP and this framework, although I do miss…

I made a word building game supporting anagrams and one handed use4d ago · ▲20

Hi everyone, Wanted to share a game I built. It's called Unscramble! and I believe it's the simplest word building game. Rules: You get a few letters on screen. You need to make one word with all the letters. Tap a letter to select. Tap again to deselect. Faster you go, better you score. If you enter anagrams of the word it's looking for, it gives you extra points. If you are stuck, you can either "Ask Friend" or get Hint. You get extra points for getting the word fast but you don't get penalized for taking too long. I believe the simplicity of the game along with big touch buttons makes it…

Hey HN! I wanted to share something I built over the last few weeks: isometric.nyc is a massive isometric pixel art map of NYC, built with nano banana and coding agents. I didn't write a single line of code. Of course no-code doesn't mean no-engineering. This project took a lot more manual labor than I'd hoped! I wrote a deep dive on the workflow and some thoughts about the future of AI coding and creativity: http://cannoneyed.com/projects/isometric-nyc
