Reproof
Hey HN! I've written more words on the internet than I could count, for everyone from Zapier to Wirecutter. And for years it's bugged me that nearly every writing app still treats the writing surface as a linear sheet of paper, with paragraphs one after another and no space for experimentation. And so I and a friend build Reproof.app as what I've taken to calling a writing app for perfectionists. It's built around paragraph versions. You can add new versions to any paragraphs and swap between them to see how the different takes read in context. You can cut a paragraph as a clipping to save…

What it does
Write. Rewrite. Revise. Reproof — the writing app for perfectionists. With paragraph versions, clippings to save cut bits for later, side-by-side documents, full-featured markdown and rich text support, selective find and replace, and proofreading, it's built around how writers work. Draft ideas, reword until it clicks, cut the darlings that don't fit, rearrange sections into a better flow, proofread, then paste into any CMS or newsletter app. It's the app to write until you get it right.
Write. Rewrite. Revise. Reproof — the writing app for perfectionists. Designed to help you write until you get it right.
It happens, instead, with bursts of inspiration, stream-of-consciousness first drafts, rushed prose, rethought ledes, and rewritten codas. With darlings left on the cutting floor, with passages reworked until little resemblance of the first draft remains. Most writing tools hide that hard work, with revisions erased from the page and darlings killed forever. But writing is exploration. The first sentence you write is seldom the best; the bit you cut now might fit better down the page. Rewrite paragraphs as many times as you want. Swap between takes to see which sounds best. Clip paragraphs to save them for later. Clean things up, with proofreading suggestions, with selective find and…from reproof.app

Clipto MCP▲655Hey HN, We recently built Clipto. It’s a tool that lets you search over terabytes of video, audio, and images on your computer, without relying on the cloud. Motivation: we probably all had this similar experience, we know a moment exists in a video or audio, but finding it takes hours scrubbing the timeline. You can send all the media to process in the cloud, but it’s slow, expensive and raises privacy concerns. So we decided to build our own on-device media search engine. How it works (high level): 1. We ingest video, audio, image; normalize formats via ffmpeg; run content analysis to…

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…
