Senada

An app that plays nature sounds while you type.

What it does

Dani was a content writer. I was a designer on the seventh floor in Mampang. One night, he called. “I’m bored of every playlist,” he said. “Now I work in silence and instead hear my neighbor doing karaoke.” Then I heard his typing through the phone — thin, steady, like rain on a tin roof. And suddenly, I remembered my village back home. Crickets at night. The hum of a fan. A television still playing. A few weeks later, I started building Senada — an app that plays nature sounds while you type.

    I built a simple ambient sound app with no ads or subscriptionsOct 2025 · ambisounds.app · ▲314

I’ve always liked having background noise while working or falling asleep, but I got frustrated that most “white noise” or ambient sound apps are either paywalled, stuffed with ads, or try to upsell subscriptions for basic features. So I made Ambi, a small iOS app with a clean interface and a set of freely available ambient sounds — rain, waves, wind, birds, that sort of thing. You can mix them, adjust volume levels, and just let it play all night or while you work. Everything works offline and there are no hidden catches. It’s something I built for myself first, but I figured others might…

    Ambiphone, no-nonsense ambient music and white noise2024 · ambiph.one · ▲357

I built this free, no-nonsense white noise app. I know there are plenty of them out there already, but I wanted to make something beautiful and easy-to-use, without logins or ads or in-app purchases or any of the other stuff a lot of them have. I appeared on The Economist's The Intelligence podcast [0] this week talking about Ambiphone and another ambient music project, Ambient ScotRail Beats [1] - I'm on at about 17:30 There's a big selection of music and sounds already but I'm always adding more - if there's anything you'd like to see added, let me know! My iOS app to practice sight reading (10 years in the App Store)2025 · apps.apple.com · ▲313

Hello HN, this has been my personal project for quite some time now. It has been a slowly evolving project over the years and its core function is for users to expose themselves to progressively more difficult lessons of music notes. NOTE: It is free and there are no ads. There is an in app purchase but most of the app doesn't require it.

Hey HN, Henry here from Cactus. We open-sourced Needle, a 26M parameter function-calling (tool use) model. It runs at 6000 tok/s prefill and 1200 tok/s decode on consumer devices. We were always frustrated by the little effort made towards building agentic models that run on budget phones, so we conducted investigations that led to an observation: agentic experiences are built upon tool calling, and massive models are overkill for it. Tool calling is fundamentally retrieval-and-assembly (match query to tool name, extract argument values, emit JSON), not reasoning. Cross-attention…
