Stacktape

Full power of AWS with Heroku-like experience

Stacktape launched on April 13, 2022 with 89 votes, #372 of 2,974 launches that month and more than 75% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 4 years on.

What it does

Stacktape is a DevOps-free cloud framework made for developers. It allows you to develop, deploy and run applications on AWS. With 98% less configuration and without the need for DevOps or Cloud experts.

Still your AWS, but 97% easier

Stacktape is a PaaS 2.0 that deploys to your own AWS account From scratch to production-grade AWS infra in a day. No DevOps knowledge required Up to 8x more expensive. Surprise bills are very common. Egress bills get horrible at scale. Advanced features, such as private networking, are available only on expensive tiers. You're always 1 unsupported use-case away from having to migrate your infrastructure to AWS anyway. You spend 100s or 1000s of hours configuring IaC, deployment scripts and CI/CD pipelines. Developer productivity suffers as they can't make changes by themselves. Maintaining, fixing and upgrading your custom setup is a full time job. And you might not get it right.…from stacktape.com

Hello, Stacktape CEO here. As a full-stack developer, I was looking for an easy way to deploy and host my applications for years. I could go with Kubernetes and Terraform. But the complexity of running this in production can be overwhelming even for a team of dedicated DevOps specialists. Or I could go with Heroku. But I’m not willing to pay 5-10 times more for my infrastructure just because my app was easier to deploy. I could also choose Serverless framework. But If my use case requires more than Lambda functions, I need to read through 100s of pages of AWS documentation figuring out how…

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

  • Hi HN community, I’m Zach, founder and CEO of Warp, and am excited to show you Warp, a fast Rust-based terminal that’s easy to use and built for teams. As of today, Warp is in public beta and any Mac user can download it. It works with bash, zsh, and fish. The terminal’s teletype-like interface has made it hard for the CLI to thrive. After 20 years of programming, I still find it hard to copy a command’s output; I always forget how to use `tar`; and I always have to relearn how to move my cursor. To fix fundamental accessibility issues, I believe we need to start innovating on the terminal,…
