In plain words

Stadia Maps provides mapping, geocoding, search, routing, and navigation APIs for developers. The service offers map tiles, static maps, and routing functionality built on transparent pricing without surprise increases or unexpected billing structures. It emphasizes privacy-first infrastructure where user location data is not collected for advertising or model training, distinguishing it from competitors with opaque pricing models and data practices.

Add real-time and predictive traffic to your routes and ETAs. Same API, same transparent pricing, now with a fundamentally better picture of the road.

Stop battling legacy pricing, forced telemetry, and black-box billing. Choose the location stack engineered for privacy, scale, and developer sanity. Stop battling legacy pricing, forced telemetry, and black-box billing. Choose the location stack engineered for privacy, scale, and developer sanity. Whether it's unannounced price hikes or map load billing that punishes you for having active users, stop paying a tax on your success. Your users' location data shouldn't be treated as a commodity to feed ad networks or train models. Privacy is our foundation, not a premium add-on. Over the past week I built a project to let people self-host an entire maps stack so they don't have to send data to the big G. Right now it includes a base map, geocoder and directions server. Currently only bicycle directions are supported, and I'm only hosting tiles for Seattle because I'm unemployed and can't afford to host data for the whole planet. Check it out! https://maps.ellenhp.me/ https://github.com/ellenhp/headway Ultimately I'd like to really focus on transit routing (not implemented) but I'll probably throw a driving mode in there too.

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…
