STAR CUBE
Explore mysterious cube planets in space.
What it does
In Cosmic Era 4227, we found a bizarre celestial body defying physics via the R.T.P. System. Its structure is composed of cubes, overturning the axiom that planets must be spheres. This discovery renders existing cosmic theses obsolete. Even more inscrutable: despite fragmenting, it reconfigures itself toward a "correct" state with its own will. We've named this survey "STAR CUBE." Does it truly exist, or is it a phantom? The 1st of a trilogy. Open-source on GitHub. PWA supported!

Hello HN! Sharing a recent side project of mine, the Atlas of Space, that I built out to explore the Solar System. As a long-time space nerd, I realized recently that I didn't have a good intuition on the scale, speed, and relative orientation of the celestial bodies around us. So over the break I built out a kind of spatial Wikipedia to click around and learn about planets, moons, asteroids, and other bodies orbiting the Sun. The physics is all simulated in the browser using simple Newtonian mechanics. There's a lot left to do from here, including modeling objects in non-Keplerian orbits…

I am a big Dragon Age fan and sunk hundreds of hours into Inquisition. It had this minigame called astrariums where you had to solve these shapes based on constellation guides by tracing stars. I'm a hobby game dev and wondered if I could procedurally generate these puzzles so they were always solvable. Turns out you can, so I built a space puzzle game around it with a colorful aesthetic. I released it in web form here but I'm currently working on getting it on Steam and mobile.
Galaxium, an experimental WebGPU space explorer13d ago · galaxium.app · ▲137Hello, I am the creator and maintainer of Stellarium Mobile. I have been working in my free time for about a year on this new project Galaxium, that is more about traveling in the universe rather than looking at the sky from Earth. It is still experimental, and at the moment I am not sure what it will become. Feedback is welcome.
- IWI wrote a symmetry game with a daily puzzle2024 · hidden-mirrors.com · ▲126
I’ve been working on a puzzle game for a few years as a side project. The game is based on a small region of tiles in a grid that is mirrored, modified, and mirrored again. It’s based on a novel phenomenon I noticed where, once these mutations happen a few times, the original region can be hard to recognize. You have a feeling there are symmetries in the image, but they are just out of grasp. Going further, if only part of the region is visible, such as mirroring off the edge of the board, it adds to the feeling and it becomes a satisfying puzzle to solve. I originally published this on the…
