In plain words

Status of my favorite bike share stations is a life and fun tool that monitors the availability of bikes at preferred bike share locations. Users can track their favorite stations in real time to check bike and dock availability before heading out. The tool is designed for regular bike share commuters and casual riders who want to quickly see if bikes are available at their chosen pickup spots.

From the sources

I love Toronto’s Bike Share network, but often times the bike station closest to my place has no bikes or the place I’m heading to has no docks. The Bike Share app is a bit clunky, requiring multiple taps and scrolling to check all of this info. In order to save those few extra seconds in the morning, I did the logical thing and spent multiple hours to make a simple dashboard and iOS widget that surfaces the info I need at a glance. Tracking bike-share movement over New Year in Zurich2024 · publibikes.tibaldo.ch · ▲23

In Switzerland PubliBike is a popular bike-sharing company. Thanks to its openly accessible API one can extrapolate the movements of these bikes around the cities. As a Christmas project I decided to collect this publicly available data and visualize the movement of bikes in the city of Zurich. Purple tracks are classic bikes, while blue tracks are electric bikes. I am not well versed with front-end development so I hope you will excuse the mediocre interface. Happy to take any questions, comments, feedback and thoughts. A good new year to all of you! GitHub repo:…

  • I went down the rabbit hole on a side project and ended up building this: Strange Attractors(https://blog.shashanktomar.com/posts/strange-attractors). It’s built with three.js. Working on it reminded me of the little "maths for fun" exercises I used to do while learning programming in early days. Just trying things out, getting fascinated and geeky, and being surprised by the results. I spent way too much time on this, but it was extreme fun. My favorite part: someone pointed me to the Simone Attractor on Threads. It is a 2D attractor and I asked GPT to extrapolate it to…

  • Hey all, I built this. It’s not trying to capture every autistic experience (that’d be impossible). It’s based on my own lived experience as well as that of friends on the spectrum. I'm trying to give people a feel for what masking, decision fatigue, and burnout can look like day-to-day. That’s hard to explain in words, but easier to show through choices and stats. I'm not trying to "define autism". I’ve gotten good feedback here about resilience, meds, and difficulty tuning. I’ll keep tweaking it. If even a few people walk away thinking, "ah, maybe that’s why my coworker struggles in those…
