Stig – a minimalistic puzzle game on Steam, written in React

Me and my boyfriend are making a puzzle game together. The goal of the game is to follow a specific pattern by moving around in a grid. Since we are both web developers, we chose to do it in React and Typescript rather than a game engine. We will release it on Steam in November, using Electron to package the app as a desktop executable. Not sure if it has saved us time to do it in React, but we didn't feel like learning a new tool and it has worked really well! I thought making a game would take a lot of time, but we started in December so we will finish this project in less than a year. And…

What it does

In the maker’s words, at launch

Me and my boyfriend are making a puzzle game together. The goal of the game is to follow a specific pattern by moving around in a grid. I thought making a game would take a lot of time, but we started in December so we will finish this project in less than a year. And we have had lots of fun making it :) Would be fun to hear if someone has done something similar! Try out the demo at https://lageb.itch.io/stig or https://store.steampowered.com/app/2910530/Stig_Demo/. I have posted about Stig before, roughly 7 months ago (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=39580484). Since then we have changed the levels, updated the menu structure, added a lot of polish etc.

    made a html5 game, polished it many many times2011 · hotbazooka.com · ▲211

hi all, I've always wanted to make my own game, but couldn't afford a thousand-dollar adobe (flash+photoshop) license. I'm not a talented programmer, have no degree in CS. But I understand some elements of design. So I got me a copy of ImpactJS, and after about 5 months of steep learning curve (at least for me), I managed to come up with a game. I also integrated it with a highscore and badge system, similar to what you get at Kongregate. You need to login with Google/OpenID to earn badges/scores. link is: http://www.hotbazooka.com/privatejoe hope to hear some feedback/questions from you guys!

    A small browser game (PC only) built with Phaser 32025 · cubic-zombies.pages.dev · ▲9

Hi HN! This is my first game — something I’ve always wanted to do. It’s a small browser game built with Phaser 3, React, and the phaser template (https://github.com/phaserjs/template-react-ts/). I made it in 2 days (like 8 hours in total real time) using gemini-cli. About 90% of the code was generated with AI, but I learned a lot by making fine tweaks. It only works on PC since it’s a typical WASD + R (reload) shooter. I’d love feedback on: - Gameplay (is it fun, too hard?) - Ideas for new features Thanks in advance! ps: I used cubes as a prototype, but now I kind of…

Progressive Web App, "Finding Nora": https://nora.now.sh/ It was also my first attempt at TypeScript + React. Preliminary conclusion: Getting started is a bit slower and the code more verbose, but refactoring become sooo much easier. And: Almost no need to reload and debug anymore. Once TypeScript is satisfied with my code it generally just works. Source code and more information can be found here: https://github.com/vnglst/finding-nora

I'm building an AI tool that turns Design Systems into React components2024 · robustlaunch.com · ▲8

Hi HN! Solo developer here. 10 days ago, I started building this after spending countless hours copying/pasting marketing sections and fighting to keep them consistent with our design system. I wondered: "What if AI could understand our design system and generate React components that actually match it?" Current progress (10 days in): - Can generate hero sections that follow your design tokens - Uses your actual component variants and styles - Works with Next.js, Tailwind, shadcn/ui It's very early days, but I'm excited to share it with other devs who: - Are tired of rebuilding…

    Anima 4 (YC S18) – Turn design work into developer-friendly React code2020 · ▲22

Hi everyone! We’re Avishay, Or, and Michal, co-founders of Anima (www.animaapp.com). Anima converts design (Figma/Sketch/XD) into code automatically. Up until today, we only produced HTML/JS/CSS. With our latest release, we can now also generate developer-friendly React code. We’re here to replace image-based handoff, which involves a lot of grunt work for the engineers who have to translate all those images into code that does the same thing. For designers, the pain we solve is the ping-pong, and their vision getting lost in translation. The bottom line is that teams can…
