TapFi
I've submitted this before but it got lost in the noise so hope it's ok to submit it again, I've added quite a few new features since last time This is a little app I built to deal with a pain point I find when travelling a lot, often you're in a cafe/pub or airbnb and the wifi details will be written down on a card or on a poster, this simply lets you take a picture of the details and it works out the SSID/Password (using Claude Sonnet) and connects you New features since the last post: - Create and share a QR code with others, so they can just scan the QR code and connect - Use a…

What it does
Point your phone at a handwritten WiFi card and TapFi connects you automatically. No typing passwords into tiny keyboards ever again.
Turn any handwritten or printed WiFi card into a one-tap connection. No more squinting at tiny passwords on café receipts. Built for messy cards from real cafés, bars, hotels, and Airbnbs, not perfectly-typed text. Automatically tries variations of the password (wrong spaces, wrong casing, the usual) so you don't have to. If the card has a WiFi QR code, TapFi spots it and connects instantly, with no typing at all. When a sign lists more than one network, TapFi works out which one is actually nearby and joins it. Turn your own network into a clean QR card to hand a guest, print, or stick on the wall. Install, point, tap. No sign-up, no email, no password to create just to use an app about…from tapfi.uno

Quickly connect to WiFi by scanning text, no typing needed2025 · github.com · ▲44I travel and work remotely a lot. Every new place—hotels, cafes, coworking spaces—means dealing with a new WiFi network. Sometimes there's a QR code, which is convenient, but usually, it's a hassle: manually finding the right SSID (especially frustrating when hotels have one SSID per room), then typing long, error-prone passwords. To simplify this, I made a small Android app called Wify. It uses your phone's camera to capture WiFi details (network name and password) from printed text, then generates a QR code right on your screen. You can instantly connect using Google Circle to Search or…

Try it out on your WiFi: https://tapchat.com I’ve always been shocked at the fact that it’s easier to chat with someone on the other side of the world than with someone who is on the exact same WiFi as you. I think that is a shame because WiFi networks are essentially a bunch of existing micro-communities which your phone already automatically connects to. Think about how many other people have used or will use the same WiFi as you at home, school, work, or in public; and so far it has been practically impossible to chat or share pictures with them. After leaving my job earlier…

Talanoa▲346Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

With social media and now AI, its important to keep the indie web alive. There are many people who write frequently. Blogosphere tries to highlight them by fetching the recent posts from personal blogs across many categories. There are two versions: Minimal (HN-inspired, fast, static): https://text.blogosphere.app/ Non-minimal: https://blogosphere.app/ If you don't find your blog (or your favorite ones), please add them. I will review and approve it.
