Terraform Provider for Inexpensive Switches
Hi HN, I’ve been building this provider for (web managed) network switches manufactured by HRUI. These switches often used in SMBs, home labs, and by budget-conscious enthusiasts. Many HRUI switches are also rebranded and sold under various OEM/ODM names (eg. Horaco, XikeStor, keepLiNK, Sodola, etc) making them accessible/popular but often overlooked in the world of infrastructure automation. The provider is in pre-release, and I’m looking for owners of these switches to test it and share feedback. My goal is to make it easier to automate its config using Terraform/OpenTofu :)…
In plain words
This Terraform provider enables infrastructure automation for HRUI web-managed network switches, commonly found in small businesses, home labs, and budget-conscious environments. Often sold under various rebranded names, these switches previously lacked automation tooling. The provider allows users to configure VLANs, port settings, and link aggregation through Terraform or OpenTofu, using an internal SDK that interfaces with the switch's web UI. Currently in pre-release, it seeks user feedback from switch owners.

My goal is to make it easier to automate its config using Terraform/OpenTofu :) You can use this provider to configure VLANs, port settings, trunk/link aggregation etc. I built this provider to address the lack of automation tools for budget-friendly hardware. It leverage goquery and has an internal SDK sitting between the Terraform resources and the switch Web UI. If you have one of these switches, I’d love for you to give it a try and let me know how it works for you! Terraform Registry: https://registry.terraform.io/providers/brennoo/hrui OpenTofu Provider: https://search.opentofu.org/provider/brennoo/hrui I’m happy to answer any questions about the provider or the hardware it supports. Feedback, bug reports, and ideas for improvement are more than welcome!

Hi HN, I built Eigendrum, a web tool that solves the 2D wave equation for arbitrary shapes so you can hear what they sound like as drums. How it works: * Solves -∇²u = λu using finite element analysis (Kφ = λMφ) on a triangle mesh. * Validated to <0.1% error against closed-form solutions for circles (Bessel zeros) and rectangles. * Sound model factors in strike location, Rayleigh damping, and mallet width. * Includes Kac drums I & II to demonstrate identical sound spectra from different geometries. * No frameworks, build steps, or dependencies. Repo and tests:…

I realized that the PDF engines of modern desktop browsers (PDFium and PDF.js) support JavaScript with enough I/O primitives to make a basic game like Tetris. It was a bit tricky to find a union of features that work in both engines, but in the end it turns out that showing/hiding annotation "fields" works well to make monochrome pixels, and keyboard input can be achieved by typing in a text input box. All in all it's quite janky but a nice reminder of how general purpose PDF scripting can be. The linked PDF is all ASCII so you can just open it in a text editor, or have a look at…
