Tracer

Capture, pin, annotate and translate on your Mac

What it does

Tracer handles the everyday things that happen on your screen, quickly and cleanly. I wanted a tool that feels as natural as breathing. One shortcut, and what comes up is whatever the moment calls for. The fewest steps, nothing buried under menus, and the result is already in front of you. Most screenshot tools hand you a file and stop there. This one keeps the shot in front of you and keeps it useful. Everything else grew out of that. $3.99, one time. No subscription.

Tracer is an all-in-one screenshot tool for macOS: capture, floating shots, OCR and translation, markup, and more.

Capture anything on your screen, translate it, record it, annotate it, and keep it on top. The everyday work that happens on a screen, made quick and effortless. Tracer stays true to what a screen capture tool should be, and it is also a great translator, markup tool, and design assistant. It handles the work you repeat every day on a Mac, smoothly. Scrolling capture Window capture Full screen Repeat last region Video GIF Color picker Cutout are all built in. No more bouncing between windows. Capture just the part you need and pin it above everything else, and even a small screen feels bigger. Keep a reference beside your work, or line two things up to compare. • I made OwnTime to balance between competing priorities in my life. The idea is based on two main influences: the concept of "roles" from "The 5 Choices" (2015), and my repeated failure to effectively implement time blocking due to the necessary flexibility in my role. The app allows you to define time budgets, which are not much more than a few mutually exclusive countdown timers. The UX is essentially that of a chess clock for an arbitrary number of players with configurable time. The whole point of the app is to kick you out of the running role/priority when its time is up.
