Tracking Merged PRs by OpenAI's Codex and GitHub's Copilot
Figured I'd track the popular coding agents to see merge and approval rates. At first I was tracking Opened vs. Approved, but realized most people aren't approving; they just merge. I haven't found a way to reliably track the other agents (Jules, Devin, etc), since they don't have a standardized branch naming convention. Interesting to watch this over time. Open to ideas.
Tracking Merged PRs by OpenAI's Codex and GitHub's Copilot launched on June 1, 2025 with 6 votes and more than 75% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 1 year on.

Key workflow differences : Some agents like Codex iterate privately and create ready PRs directly, resulting in very few drafts but high merge rates. Others like Copilot and Codegen create draft PRs first, encouraging public iteration before marking them ready for review. The statistics below focus on Ready PRs only to fairly compare agents across different workflows, measuring each agent's ability to produce mergeable code regardless of whether they iterate publicly (with drafts) or privately. I was the main contributor to workout.lol, an open-source fitness app to easily build a workout routine. The project had traction (1.4k GitHub stars, 95 forks, ~20K visits/month), but was eventually sold due to video licensing hurdles. The new owner stopped maintaining it, and the repo went abandoned.
