Triplit – The Full-Stack Database
A full-stack, syncing database that runs on both server and client. Pluggable storage (indexeddb, sqlite, durable objects), syncs over websockets, and works with your favorite framework (React, Solid, Vue, Svelte). - aspen-cloud/triplit

Triplit – Open-source syncing database that runs on server and client2024 · github.com · ▲279Hey HN, we’re Matt and Will, the co-founders of Triplit (https://www.triplit.dev). Triplit is an open-source database (https://github.com/aspen-cloud/triplit) that combines a server-side database, client-side cache, and a sync engine into one cohesive product. You can try it out with a new project by running: (npm|bun|yarn) create triplit-app As a team, we’ve worked on several projects that aspired to the user experience of Linear or Superhuman, where every interaction feels instant like a native app while still having the collaborative and syncing features we…
Bi-directional sync between Postgres and SQLite2023 · powersync.com · ▲356Hi HN, Today we’re launching PowerSync, a Postgres<>SQLite bi-directional sync engine that enables an offline-first app architecture. It currently supports Flutter, React Native and web (JavaScript) using Wasm SQLite in the browser, with more client SDKs on the way. Conrad and I (Ralf) have been working on our sync engine since 2009, originally as part of a full-stack app platform. That version of the system is still used in production worldwide and we’ve learnt a lot from its use cases and scaling. About a year ago we started on spinning off PowerSync as a standalone product that is…

Turbolite – a SQLite VFS serving sub-250ms cold JOIN queries from S3Mar 2026 · github.com · ▲185I built a SQLite VFS in Rust that serves cold queries directly from S3 with sub-second performance, and often much faster. It’s called turbolite. It is experimental, buggy, and may corrupt data. I would not trust it with anything important yet. I wanted to explore whether object storage has gotten fast enough to support embedded databases over cloud storage. Filesystems reward tiny random reads and in-place mutation. S3 rewards fewer requests, bigger transfers, immutable objects, and aggressively parallel operations where bandwidth is often the real constraint. This was explicitly inspired…
Replicate App-Embedded DuckDBs into PostgreSQL with SyncLite OSS2024 · github.com · ▲73Hi HN, We have been building SyncLite, an open-source platform to simplify offline-first application development. If your application uses SQLite or DuckDB, SyncLite lets it continue using the local database as usual while synchronization happens in the background. For SQL-based applications, SyncLite records transactions into transactionally consistent .sqlog files using SQLite as an open replication format. A background consolidator replays those transactions, derives row-level CDC and schema changes, and applies them transactionally to destination databases like PostgreSQL. The same…

Talanoa▲346Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

Hi HN! I’m proud to share that we have built a real 3rd party iMessage client for Android. We did it by reverse engineering the iMessage protocol and encryption system. It's available to download today (no waitlist): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.beeper.ima and there's a technical writeup here: https://blog.beeper.com/p/how-beeper-mini-works. Unlike every other attempt to build an iMessage app for Android (including our first gen app), Beeper Mini does not use a Mac server relay in the cloud. The app connects directly to Apple…

Hey! I made Heynote entirely for my own use case. For many years, I always had an Emacs instance running with the scratch buffer open, even long after I had abandoned Emacs as my programming editor in favor of more recent IDE:s. The simplicity of having just one big scratch buffer appeals to me, but I still want to separate the different things I jot down somehow (without using tabs or similar). Previously, my solution was to insert a bunch of blank lines between the notes, but hitting C-A would still select the entire buffer. That's why I came up with the concept of "blocks", which turned…
