Try out our real-world programming challenges

For CodeSprint 2, we decided to introduce Real World Problems: programming problems that our CodeSprint companies face in real life. Real World Problems are messy, complicated, and infinitely variable. They require API calls, use of an arbitrary number of libraries, and a file structure that contains more than a single file upload. In short: Our existing code checking architecture is mostly useless. So we're writing a new one. Please help us test it. beta.interviewstreet.com

In plain words

CodeSprint 2 introduces Real World Problems, a new testing platform featuring programming challenges based on actual issues companies encounter in production. Unlike traditional coding problems, these challenges are complex and multi-faceted, requiring API integration, multiple libraries, and multi-file project structures. The platform includes a newly built code-checking system designed to handle the messiness of real-world development. It is intended for programmers looking to practice with practical, industry-relevant problems and for companies seeking to identify skilled developers through authentic technical scenarios.

Hi HN, I have been making side projects since I was 14, and my team mate (this is his very first side project! Congrats!) designed and implemented the UI. Over time, people kept asking me how they could start coding and turn ideas into reality. So we had an idea. Coding is changing. With AI, the bottleneck is no longer writing every line by hand but knowing how to prompt effectively to reach a working outcome. Our objective is not to make people code better, or even learn to be a proficient software engineer, but just to keep it simple and start building. We want to remove fear and barriers…

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…
