Vanilla Dice

A physics-based dice roller for D&D and Tabletop games

What it does

Vanilla Dice is a beautifully simple dice roller for tabletop games. Built in SwiftUI, it focuses on what most dice apps miss: feel. Every roll is designed with: - Subtle physics and motion - Thoughtful haptics - Clean, distraction-free UX - Zero clutter, zero noise This started as a small side project to obsess over polish, interaction, and details that make an app feel good to use. Would love feedback from designers, developers, and tabletop players 🎲

    I built a virtual tabletop for playing Dungeons and Dragons2023 · diceright.com · ▲395

Diceright is a virtual tabletop for playing dungeons and dragons with friends on the web. You can watch a quick overview of how it works here: https://tinyurl.com/diceright. And there’s a list of the main features right on the homepage. It’s a Ruby on Rails site that makes heavy use of action cable for keeping the maps and tokens in sync for all players. On the front end, I’m using HTML canvas for the maps and a js library called fabric.js for interacting with the canvas. Otherwise, just jQuery on the front end. I optimized it all to work on mobile too. I built this as a side…

    Roll20, a new virtual tabletop for playing RPGs online2012 · kickstarter.com · ▲36

This is a project that I have been working on in my spare time for a while now. It's a new virtual tabletop for playing pen and paper role playing games online, but it takes an entirely different approach than anything out there right now. Rather than trying to turn pen and paper games into video games, with features centered around one-click damage calculations and detailed stats tracking, Roll20 focuses on storytelling. It has completely new features like background music, player journals, and an expansive art library with a built-in web search. The entire system runs on NodeJS, Padrino,…

Hey HN! I wanted to share something I built over the last few weeks: isometric.nyc is a massive isometric pixel art map of NYC, built with nano banana and coding agents. I didn't write a single line of code. Of course no-code doesn't mean no-engineering. This project took a lot more manual labor than I'd hoped! I wrote a deep dive on the workflow and some thoughts about the future of AI coding and creativity: http://cannoneyed.com/projects/isometric-nyc
