Visualising how elite distance runners train
Strava's awesome for viewing individual training runs, but it doesn't offer a consolidated view for elite runners' training. The idea for this came from wanting something like Naviance (let’s you see the GPA and test scores of admitted students for a given college) for marathon running. In general, we’re working on making your running data more useful, and our newest tool, called, "Marathon Cohorts," gives you stats about runners who finished a marathon in a given time. You pick a marathon time / cohort and then look at - Weekly training mileage - Fastest 5k, 10k, half marathon, and 30k during training. I was at FB/Meta from late 2013 to early 2023, mostly working in the compiler/runtime spaces. I got hit in the spring 2023 layoff wave. i wanted to change the habit of reaching for my phone in the morning and doomscrolling away an hour so i built an app to help me. now i have to literally touch grass before accessing my most distracting apps the app is built in swiftui, uses the screen time apis provided by apple and google vision to recognise grass or not i'd love to get your thoughts on the concept.
