In plain words
wcp is a command-line file copying tool that reimplements the standard cp command using io_uring, a Linux kernel interface for efficient input-output operations. It copies files and directories while displaying a progress bar to show transfer status. The tool is designed for users who work frequently with file operations on Linux systems and want faster performance with visual feedback during copying tasks.

TLDR: I made a super fast (much faster than cp) command line copy program, with a nice progress bar. The implementation dives into some interesting bits of low level async I/O on linux. wcp is a file copying experiment I've been working on for the past while. Really, it's an excuse to try out io_uring , a relatively new asynchronous I/O system on linux. If you're unfamiliar with async I/O, it allows you to queue up reads and writes to run in the background, and check back later to see if they're done, without having to wait before you start doing other things (like submitting even more requests). This ain't no fancy pantsy high-level javascript event loopy memory safey framework though.…from wheybags.com

Quickly copy a file between computers2013 · github.com · ▲110Hey everyone, just wanted to share a quick project I built a bit ago and finally cleaned up enough to post. The premise is simple, you have a file on one computer that you want on a different computer on the same network and don't want a lot of fuss. For the file you want to copy, on the machine where the file is located, run: ./bcp filename Now go to the computer (on the same network) where you want the file to be at, and run: ./bcp The file will be copied over the network and you're done. I created it as a nice way of not having to worry about ssh or anything else really. In fact, it is so…

This is a long-running project that started as the proverbial need to scratch my own itch and then somehow evolved into a full-time job of the past 6 years. Link: https://bvckup2.com I thought I'd do a Show HN for two reasons. 1. I obviously want to show my baby to those who haven't seen it. Its primary purpose is to do very fast file replication. If you are familiar with "robocopy /mir" - same idea, but on steroids. Lots of them. It can be used for both mirroring and archiving backups, among other things. It is light, very small and it is really quite fast. Half of the…

I kept re-Googling the same flags, so I built a tiny, fast directory of copy-ready CLI commands. It’s static (vanilla JS), instant search, keyboard nav (↑/↓ + Enter), favorites (localStorage), and linkable queries.
