WebMotion
Hi HN! I have been building WebMotion, a small library for making videos in the browser. The basic idea is that everything on screen is a pure function of the current frame, so rendering frame N always produces the same result. That means you can seek anywhere in the timeline, and exports are frame accurate without needing a server. Demos (each includes its own source): https://superhq-ai.github.io/webmotion/ The repo also includes an agent skill that lets coding agents create launch videos from a prompt. Quite a few of the demos were made that way. Feedback is very…

What it does
Compose video in the DOM, encode it with WebCodecs, download an MP4. No FFmpeg, no headless Chrome, no render farm. Every frame is a pure function of the frame index.
Everything visible is a pure function of the current frame. Nothing reads the wall clock: no Date.now() , no Math.random() , no requestAnimationFrame timestamps. Give the renderer a frame index and it draws exactly one image. That single constraint is what the rest rests on. Seeking is exact because there is no state to wind forward. Frames are cacheable because a frame is determined by its index alone. And the export is trustworthy because the encoder walks frames far faster than wall time without anything drifting, so the MP4 is the preview, pixel for pixel. Rendering happens in the tab you are reading this in, so the honest way to report speed is to let you measure it. Each case below…from webmotion.superhq.ai

VidStudio, a browser based video editor that doesn't upload your filesApr 2026 · vidstudio.app · ▲301Hi HN, I built VidStudio, a privacy focused video editor that runs in the browser. I tried to keep it as frictionless as possible, so there are no accounts and no uploads. Everything is persisted on your machine. Some of the features: multi-track timeline, frame accurate seek, MP4 export, audio, video, image, and text tracks, and a WebGL backed canvas where available. It also works on mobile. Under the hood, WebCodecs handles frame decode for timeline playback and scrubbing, which is what makes seeking responsive since decode runs on the hardware decoder when the browser supports it. FFmpeg…

A video editing SDK that runs in the browser2024 · rendley.com · ▲129Hello HN, Video content is more popular than ever, but the toolkit for creating such content is a bit behind. You usually have to rely on a server for rendering whenever you want to create a video editing project in the browser. This means uploading content to a server, coding complex filters and effects, and more. My friend and I spent a year developing an SDK that handles all these complexities and offers an easy-to-use interface for developers. The SDK works entirely in the browser, manages memory efficiently so it can run even on a 7-year-old Android device, supports GLSL effects and…
Video CommanderApr 2026 · video-commander.com · ▲87I've been building open-source tools in the video/multimedia space for 10+ years. Finally shipped the commercial product I always wanted to exist — Video Commander, a desktop app that consolidates FFmpeg, ffprobe, MediaInfo, VMAF and more into a single workspace where you can inspect, encode and analyze video. Built with Tauri + Rust backend, React frontend. FFmpeg and VMAF. Not a cool AI/LLM project, just a tool I've been heads-down building over the last six months. Happy to answer any questions!

Talanoa▲343Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

I might be the only SRE on Earth with his own bowling center. It's a more in-depth gig than you'd think. My family and I bought an abandoned 8-lane bowling center in the rural mid-west. In our small town there weren't many recreation options for families. You've heard of a food desert? This is an R&R desert. It had been abandoned for a good reason. The roof leaks, the electrical system was constantly surging, and my 70-year-old bowling equipment (still) doesn't work perfectly. The system that keeps your score is particularly interesting to me. It's the thing you watch during your game, but…

Over the past few months, our team has been building more and more slidedecks using web frontend technologies with coding harnesses like Claude Code, but a common complaint is to make even small edits we need to edit the code either manually or via the harness. To avoid this loop, I ended up creating Bento, a single HTML file with everything you need in a slide tool including animations and shared editing. There's no install or cloud login, everything works offline. The default deck is around 560 KB and it doesn't need to fetch anything once you got it. Open it in a browser and then you can…

A few days ago I found myself trying out GLM 5.2 and was really positively impressed. The capabilities and security I was getting from this LLM are similar to those I've gotten from models like Claude or GPT, and this really surprised me. But then I thought, "I wonder how it would work on a normal computer like mine," and above all, "I wonder if it would work without going into OOM on a computer like mine." So I started working with the help of agents to test this possibility. I started converting the model to int4, understanding MTP usage, and if possible implementing DSA for long context.…

OpenSEO▲928Hello! For the last 2 months, I've been building OpenSEO. It's a user friendly UI wrapping the DataForSEO API which has high quality SEO data for keywords, backlinks, AI SEO and competitor research. Instead of paying $100+ per month, you buy DataForSEO credits and pay only for usage. The coolest thing about the project so far has been hearing about what people are building on top of it. People are using coding agents to quickly integrate with Google Search Console, Google Ads and building their own AI SEO and reporting features. Many were already building their own custom solutions around…
