Wonder Why? Science animations for kids.

Beautiful web animations that answer kids’ “why?”

What it does

Wonder Why? turns children’s biggest “why?” questions into beautiful, interactive web animations. No app. No download. Just open the link and watch — on any phone, tablet, or computer. Watch (Animated Stories) + Play (Interactive Experiments) : 20+ released and more content is under scientific review. Designed for ages 3–7. No voiceover — the subtitles invite parents to read aloud, making it a co-experience, not a screen babysitter. Available in English, Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese.

Hey HN! I’m excited to show you my app that lets you learn any topic in a structured, bite-sized way. Each lesson has an audio version, some visuals, and interactive quizzes. They’re personalized to your background and goals, and you can pick a concept inside a lesson and ask it to go deeper. When my co-founder was at NotebookLM, he realized the biggest bottlenecks in learning are that people don’t have time or feel like they’re not smart enough. We wanted to see if software can take the mental load of figuring out what resources to use and what order to learn them in, and make lessons easy…

My kids are endlessly curious, always asking questions like “Why do stars twinkle?” or “How do volcanoes erupt?” I love their curiosity, but I found myself constantly searching for good ways to answer them, and without adding more screen time to their day. Podcasts are great, but kids’ podcasts are often generic and don’t cover their specific questions. I wanted something more personal and engaging. So I built WonderPods - an app that creates personalized podcast episodes to answer whatever they’re curious about, even saying their name in the story. It turns their curiosity into fun,…

Hey HN, Henry here from Cactus. We open-sourced Needle, a 26M parameter function-calling (tool use) model. It runs at 6000 tok/s prefill and 1200 tok/s decode on consumer devices. We were always frustrated by the little effort made towards building agentic models that run on budget phones, so we conducted investigations that led to an observation: agentic experiences are built upon tool calling, and massive models are overkill for it. Tool calling is fundamentally retrieval-and-assembly (match query to tool name, extract argument values, emit JSON), not reasoning. Cross-attention…
