YOLO v4 Tiny with Tensil on Ultra96 FPGA Board

A blog about everything.

YOLO v4 Tiny with Tensil on Ultra96 FPGA Board launched on April 9, 2022 with 8 votes, #986 of 2,974 launches that month and more than 50% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 4 years on.

What it does

This tutorial will use Avnet Ultra96 V2 development board and Tensil open-source inference accelerator to show how to run YOLO v4 Tiny –the state-of-the-art ML model for object detection–on FPGA. The YOLO model contains some operations that Tensil does not support. These operations are in the final stage of processing and are not compute-intensive. We will use TensorFlow Lite (TF-Lite) to run them on the CPU to work around this. We will use the PYNQ framework to receive real-time video from a USB webcam and show detected objects on a screen connected to Display Port. This tutorial refers to the previous Ultra96 tutorial for step-by-step instructions for generating Tensil RTL and…from k155la3.blog

    1. Single universal binary, that can be natively executed on every hardware platform Mac OS X was made for (32/64 bit, PowerPC/x86/AppleSilicon). 2. Minimalistic gadget-style design. If launched as a tool, there is no menubar, no dock icon, no nothing, just the clock window. 3. Support for hidpi and dark mode for environments, that have them. 4. Window title bar for moving the window with a mouse, and a handle to resize it (latter for OS versions, that have it). 5. Can be easily ported to GNUStep and thus other OSes (sources under GPLv3). 6. Simple Makefile build system.

  • Hi HN community, I’m Zach, founder and CEO of Warp, and am excited to show you Warp, a fast Rust-based terminal that’s easy to use and built for teams. As of today, Warp is in public beta and any Mac user can download it. It works with bash, zsh, and fish. The terminal’s teletype-like interface has made it hard for the CLI to thrive. After 20 years of programming, I still find it hard to copy a command’s output; I always forget how to use `tar`; and I always have to relearn how to move my cursor. To fix fundamental accessibility issues, I believe we need to start innovating on the terminal,…
