@nileshtrivedi Yep. It's possible. #myelixirstatus Super quick and dirty but it works: https://t.co/yNZLhnxJcF

I've been writing Elixir for 5 years and made plenty of sites with Phoenix and LiveView but my biggest gripe has always been with the lack of quality UI components available. The JS ecosystem has so many, and it's the one thing I miss from being primarily a React & Node developer. So this is my attempt at bringing some pretty and useful components most applications need to Phoenix projects to try and fill in the gaps between what makes LiveView such a productive joy to work with. The library is very very raw and requires some initial clean up so PRs are very welcome to tidy up the DX as well…

I migrated programmerhumor.io from WordPress to Elixir/Phoenix and the results are mind-blowing. The site is now blazingly fast with dramatically reduced server load and zero crashes. No more WordPress plugin hell with constant conflicts, security patches, and performance degradation. Phoenix LiveView made the UX significantly smoother than the WordPress version. The migration process was surprisingly manageable thanks to Phoenix's clean conventions, which helped untangle the WordPress spaghetti schema. My only regret is not making the switch sooner.

I had 14,000 photos sitting on a drive and wanted an excuse to play with local vision models and Elixir/Phoenix. I originally tried to get LLaVA to tell me if a photo was 'good' or matched my style, but quickly learned that LLMs have terrible taste. I ended up demoting the LLM to just extract metadata, and built a custom CLIP/Ridge Regression pipeline to actually learn my preferences based on how I rate things. The stack is Phoenix/Oban on the orchestrator side, and Python/FastAPI/Instructor for the AI workers. Happy to answer any questions about the architecture,…

Hey HN. We built an AI agent, Avid, that creates beautiful Flutter Apps, much like v0 or Lovable. The agent carefully makes UI UX considerations, generates Flutter code, and you get a preview on your browser. I've gone through lots and lots of iterations to help the agent produce beautiful results. Would love your feedback. Ability to download App files and flutter code should be ready this coming week. Have a look and let me know what you think!

This was submitted before but it didn't seem to get much attention because I don't think the title was very descriptive and the submitter was brand new. I almost didn't click it but once I did I thought the project was pretty awesome and had a lot of promise. Hope this doesn't violate the rules, I have no horse in the game, but the creator is here on the site so hopefully he'll be able to answer your questions.

I saw this app youlearn.ai on YC and thought of building it. They are claiming to have 1M+ users with just one feature which is to convert your learning material into summaries, quizzes etc. I gave this a shot and cloned almost most of the features in just 9+ hours of continous vibe coding (with 20% manual though). Now I'm selling this on mvp marketplace. Might probably open source it in future or give it free.

I recently built IsMyAIDown.com to challenge some assumptions about modern web development. Instead of reaching for React like everyone else seems to be doing these days, I wanted to see if I could build a distributed, scalable, real-time, single-page app using server-side tech with Phoenix and LiveView. The core idea was simple enough - monitor major AI providers and show their status across different geographic regions. But the primary goal was to better understand what was possible without the complexity of modern frontend frameworks. I ended up deploying across three Fly.io regions and…

HNLive is a small Elixir/Phoenix/LiveView web app showing the top 10 (by score or number of comments) newest HackerNews stories in "real time" (i.e. as quickly as updates become available via the HackerNews API). You should find the app running on https://hntop10.gigalixirapp.com - please note that this is running on the free tier with limited memory and resources. GitHub: https://github.com/gstipi/hnlive The motivation for building HNLive was twofold: 1. I had read and heard many good things about Elixir, Phoenix and LiveView, and after watching Chris…

Hacker Live is a client for Hacker News that provides live updates to lists and comments. I’ve built this to get into Elixir / Phoenix / LiveView development. The UI follows HN look and feel for the most part, with a few opinionated tweaks and additions: - Sticky comment summaries to help keep track of the discussion context in nested comment threads - Subtitles on list entries and summaries on story pages generated by an LLM to help you decide whether a given article is worth your time - List entries link to the discussion page by default - Surfacing of links in comments to…

I’ve been playing around with local LLMs for the past couple of months and decided to build something that can run on an iPhone. It’s a universal app built with SwiftUI and the excellent ggml library. The model is an SFT fine tuned and 4 bit quantised version of the RedPajama-INCITE-Chat-3B-v1 OSS LLM. It works reasonably well on recent-ish (~3 year old) iPhones, iPads and Macs. It was launched on the App Store yesterday[1] and Product Hunt today[2]. It seems to be reasonably ok at natural language interactions, but given its size, does pretty badly at coding and reasoning. Also, it…

After getting impatient with a "SwiftUI for Designers" course I decided to fuck around and find out. Just hours after asking my 1st question: "Are you familiar with SwiftUI?" the core functionality of this app (an exercise utility) was up and working. I've spent the past week tweaking the UI with small animations and features. It's a humble tool (local storage only) but I am nonetheless floored with how GPT has allowed me to completely skip the "learning syntax" part of development and ship something that I actually use. Not only did it lower the syntax bar virtually to 0... I've learned…

Hey HN, After GPT-3 created waves in the tech industry, a lot of AI tools were emerging and with that, some AI website builders But the results seemed way too generic to us. It felt like the developers were rushing to catch the wave instead of building a proper tool We took our time, did months of RnD and finally came up with something better than what others in the market are doing. It’s got better design output. While it’s still in beta, I wanted to show HN what we did. Will appreciate the feedback when you guys try it out. Here is the link to signup for the beta:…

Hi there, looking for feedback on my new project "Featherless.AI" The idea is to allow users to run all the models on hugging face instantly. Via the OpenAI API compatible endpoint. Why? Because its a real chore to download models and spin up GPUs, especially if you want to test multiple models. Not to mention GPUs cost multiple dollars an hour to rent. And if we want more people to use open source AI, we got to make it easier for them to try and play with all of them. So what if instead of spinning up dedicated GPUs per model (which is what every provider is doing) We can startup a LLM…

Randomly got inspired yesterday seeing SmolVLM working on WebGPU and had the silly idea for this project. it's not perfect and super limited because of the current limitations of WebML (and admittedly, because I suck at prompting, but that's why it's Open Source haha) but it is 1.5B WORTH OF AI (SmolVLM 500M and LLama 3.2 1B) working RIGHT IN YOUR BROWSER with you not having to install anything! In fact, the whole thing is actually just an index.html that you can install and even use directly! It might be a little bit slow on first try (takes about 3 mins) when it installs models, but it…
