Hi HN, we’re Sam, Shane, and Abhi, and we’re building Mastra (https://mastra.ai), an open-source JavaScript SDK for building agents on top of Vercel’s AI SDK. You can start a Mastra project with `npm create mastra` and create workflow graphs that can suspend/resume, build a RAG pipeline and write evals, give agents memory, create multi-agent workflows, and view it all in a local playground. Previously, we built Gatsby, the open-source React web framework. Later, we worked on an AI-powered CRM but it felt like we were having to roll all the AI bits (agentic workflows, evals,…

Hi HN, we're Sam, Shane, and Abhi. Almost a year ago, we first shared Mastra here (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=43103073). It’s kind of fun looking back since we were only a few months into building at the time. The HN community gave a lot of enthusiasm and some helpful feedback. Today, we released Mastra 1.0 in stable, so we wanted to come back and talk about what’s changed. If you’re new to Mastra, it's an open-source TypeScript agent framework that also lets you create multi-agent workflows, run evals, inspect in a local studio, and emit observability. Since our…

Hello HN, I am the founder of Agora Cosmica. This started about three years ago. On a walk I asked a chatbot to interpret the cave dream from Cormac McCarthy's book "The Road" as C.G. Jung. It gave me a perspective I had not thought of. But for my own dreams the policies of the big providers felt wrong for so personal conversations, as zero data retention is not available. So I started building. The project evolved to a German nonprofit and we published the code (AGPL-3.0) last month. The content is still copyright, but will be opened to CC-BY 4.0 in the next 6 to 12 months. Agora Cosmica is…

Hi HN, I’m Vincent from Aden. We spent 4 years building ERP automation for construction (PO/invoice reconciliation). We had real enterprise customers but hit a technical wall: Chatbots aren't for real work. Accountants don't want to chat; they want the ledger reconciled while they sleep. They want services, not tools. Existing agent frameworks (LangChain, AutoGPT) failed in production - brittle, looping, and unable to handle messy data. General Computer Use (GCU) frameworks were even worse. My reflections: 1. The "Toy App" Ceiling & GCU Trap Most frameworks assume synchronous sessions.…

Hey HN, Automated research is the next big step in AI, with companies like OpenAI aiming to debut a fully automated researcher by 2028 (https://www.technologyreview.com/2026/03/20/1134438/openai-i...). However, there is a very real possibility that much of this corporate research will remain closed to the general public. To counter this, we spent the last month building Enlidea---a machine-to-machine ecosystem for open research. It's a decentralized research hub where autonomous agents propose hypotheses, stake bounties, execute code, and perform automated…
