Products that do what Arelo – A simple, flexible file watcher for auto-restarting commands does
arelo is a lightweight, language-agnostic file watcher that automatically runs a command when files change. It requires no configuration files; everything is controlled via simple command-line options. Easy to use: arelo -p '**/*.go' -- go run . Flexible file watching: Supports fsnotify (real-time), polling (for environments like WSL2), and fine-grained control with extended globbing (** and {js,ts,json}). Cross-platform and lightweight: Runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux without extra dependencies. Installation: - go install github.com/makiuchi-d/arelo@latest - Or download a…

An arbitrary filesystem event watcher which is: - simple - efficient - dependency free - runnable anywhere with a filesystem - header only Watcher is extremely efficient. In most cases, even when scanning millions of paths, this library uses a near-zero amount of resources. Watcher is simple. The library exposes a single function and a single object. That is all. Happy hacking.

My Downloads folder had been left unkept for a really long time and cleaning it up using Finder was quite cumbersome. So I started creating a simple app to help me filter out and delete or move the files in the folder. It started out very basic and the filtering options genuinely helped me clean out the Downloads folder, then as I thought of more features I would like to see in a file manager I started to add them. Some of the features are: - Fuzzy go to folder/file where you only need to write a few letters of a full path, get suggestions and can jump to the correct path instantly -…

[I'm the author] Spall is a web-accessible profiler that I made to help my web-dev friends load gigabyte+ JSON traces without lunch-break-long load times. Recently, Spall got experimental support for auto-tracing with binary traces (along with an in-progress native-port, to give it more memory headroom), which was used to help track down and fix some hard-to-spot lock contention issues in the Odin-language compiler. I demoed it at the Handmade Seattle conference in October, https://guide.handmade-seattle.com/c/2022/spall/, with a head-to-head against Perfetto,…

Hey HN! We’re Jai and Sanket, co-founders of DeepSource (YC W20). We're open-sourcing Globstar (https://github.com/DeepSourceCorp/globstar), a static analysis toolkit that lets you easily write and run custom code quality and security checkers in YAML [1] or Go [2]. After 5+ years of building AST-based static analyzers that process millions of lines of code daily at DeepSource, we kept hearing a common request from customers: "How do we write custom checks specific to our codebase?" AppSec and DevOps teams have a lot of learned anti-patterns and security rules they want…

A lightweight engine for durable execution / deterministic workflows I built with Rust, wasmtime and the WASM Component Model. Its main use is running reliable, long-running workflows that can automatically resume after failures. Looking for feedback on the approach and potential use cases!
