24 alternatives to BFS, Dijkstra and A* interactive demo made in React
Visual explanation of pathfinding algorithms and how a*, Dijkstra and BFS can be seen as the same algorithm with different parameter/data structures used under the hood - npretto/pathfinding
BFS, Dijkstra and A* is an interactive demonstration of three pathfinding algorithms built with React. It visualizes how breadth-first search, Dijkstra's algorithm, and A* explore and solve pathfinding problems in real… Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes. BFS, Dijkstra and A* interactive demo made in React launched in 2021; newer entries below may have overtaken it.

I was fascinated reading through another recent HN submission about a highly efficient implementation of A* in Lisp, which got me thinking about how I could do something similar in Python. However, these kinds of pathfinding algorithms really need complex terrain/mazes with interesting obstructions to showcase what they can do and how they work. So, I started thinking about how I could generate cool and diverse random "mazes" (they aren't really mazes, but I'm not sure what the best term is). I got a bit carried away thinking of lots of different cool ways to generate these mazes, such…

Many JS libraries exist to build graphs on the web (Vega, chartJS, Plotly...). They allow to make charts quickly. But you lose flexibility: you're limited by the options they offer. I just created a gallery with hundreds of graphs made with d3.js and React. - Examples are split by graph types - They all come with explanation and code sandboxes - Gradual complexity to ease the learning curve It took me ages to create this project! Feedback welcome!

I've posted this game here before, hopefully a repost is fine as the game has changed quite a bit (improved AI, improved mapeditor, much quicker gameplay, etc). Game is based on JavaScript/Canvas and WebSockets. On the browser side the map is pre-rendered (as a background image), just the mobile units/buildings and animations are dynamically rendered. The lobby server is made in node.js, but the game server is C++ for performance reasons (mainly the pathfinding). I found the C++ WebSocket libraries out there to be too difficult to use so I made my own based on the rfc. Overall I…

Directed acyclic graphs are muched discussed in comp-sci, but octopus appears to be the first reusable, turnkey, ready-to-wear, off-the-shelf implementation of a DAG for application development, in any language, that I'm aware of. This is remarkable because DAGs hit a sweet spot in the middle of the three common programming paradigms (OO, event-driven, functional). Let's have a DAG as the top-level structure of our applications. Data-fetching and onChange handlers live in DAG nodes, next to the data they act on. The UI flows out from the DAG with fine-grained reactivity. Our app state is…

I've been begrudgingly working on autorouters for 2 years, looking for new techniques or modern methods that might allow AI to create circuit boards. One of the biggest problems in my view for training an AI to do autorouting is the traditional grid-based representation of autorouting problems which challenges spatial understanding. But we know that vision models are very good at classifying, so I wondered if we could train a model to output a path as a classification. But then how do you represent the path? This lead me down the track of trying to build an autorouter that represented paths…

I started writing this book 10 years ago in JavaScript, got through a few chapters (asymptotic notation, basic techniques, start of sorting), and then abandoned it. Recently I picked it back up, converted everything to TypeScript, and used AI (Zenflow [1] + Claude Opus 4.6) to complete the remaining chapters. I provided the structure, direction, and initial chapters; the AI generated the bulk of the remaining content under a spec-driven workflow. The book covers roughly a first 1-2 year CS curriculum: sorting, dynamic programming, graph algorithms, trees, heaps, hash tables, and more. All…

Two clip-paths, over the navigation: - The first clip-path is a circle (top-left corner) - The second clip-path is a polygon, that acts like a ray (hardcoded, can be improved) The original work by Iventions Events https://iventions.com/ uses JavaScript, but I found CSS-only approach more fun Here's a demo and the codebase: https://github.com/Momciloo/fun-with-clip-path

Hello, I wanted to share with you all a interactive map of the economics and physics constraints of the AI buildout. It has macro drivers, industrial chokepoints, and where that shows up in markets. I've added 393 nodes and 562 edges to capture other supply / physics constraints as well. There's no sign up, and no pay wall, it's all free. Please let me know what you think!
