Products that do what Blop – Game I’ve made while I was learning Swift (iteration #2) does

In previous series: https://medium.com/@ivanpashenko/how-one-designer-was-learning-swift-cc2d99658895 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=8556056 I've got very useful feedback from HN community previous time. Thanks a lot guys! What was done: - Changed the name (now it is searchable in the App Store by the name) - Slowmo action to slow the game down for 15 sec - In app purchase (slowmos) - Pause button works now as it suppose to work - Location achievements (Don't forget to allow location service) - Bugfixes

hi all, I've always wanted to make my own game, but couldn't afford a thousand-dollar adobe (flash+photoshop) license. I'm not a talented programmer, have no degree in CS. But I understand some elements of design. So I got me a copy of ImpactJS, and after about 5 months of steep learning curve (at least for me), I managed to come up with a game. I also integrated it with a highscore and badge system, similar to what you get at Kongregate. You need to login with Google/OpenID to earn badges/scores. link is: http://www.hotbazooka.com/privatejoe hope to hear some feedback/questions from you guys!

I have always dreamed of learning Swift and creating apps for iOS, but I never found the motivation to do so. I was scared by the complexity and the learning curve of programming with UIKit and Storyboard. I thought they were too complicated and too boring for me. But then I discovered SwiftUI, the new framework for building user interfaces for Apple platforms. I was captivated by its simplicity and elegance. I watched some videos and read some articles about it and I was blown away by what it could do. I decided to give it a shot and see if I could learn it and make something with it. I set…

I always thought Google's Just a Line experiment[1] was crazy cool and recently wanted to revisit it. But it hadn't been updated in 7 years So I upgraded all of the dependencies (including the latest version of Swift 5), added SwiftLint and SwiftFormat, and got it (mostly) working again! Hope you have some fun with it- help welcome there's still more to do! [1] https://experiments.withgoogle.com/justaline

Well HN, I've finally produced something I think is worthy of sharing, but I didn't do it "in a weekend". Yeah, it's an iOS puzzle game. And yeah, it's a game I built because I wanted to play it rather than based on market research, so all this sort of makes it the antithesis of a popular HN post. But whatever. Still hoping for some of that patented (har har) expert HN feedback. Critique any part of it except the music. Also, PM me for upgrade codes, or I can post some here if there's any interest. After getting impatient with a "SwiftUI for Designers" course I decided to fuck around and find out. Just hours after asking my 1st question: "Are you familiar with SwiftUI?" the core functionality of this app (an exercise utility) was up and working. I've spent the past week tweaking the UI with small animations and features. It's a humble tool (local storage only) but I am nonetheless floored with how GPT has allowed me to completely skip the "learning syntax" part of development and ship something that I actually use. Not only did it lower the syntax bar virtually to 0... I've learned…

I actually started it June 2011 to learn iOS, launched it in September, and have been steadily adding features and making improvements. It's something I use every day and I hope other people find it useful. Enjoy!

Hello HN, last week, I stumbled over an old project of mine called Click The Number. I built it about six years ago to compare my clicking and reaction speed with that of my friends. The idea is simple – just click on the numbers in orders as fast as possible. I couldn't resist and rebuilt a lot of parts again, making them a bit nicer. I updated the design and added some features like a personal high score. It lets you keep track of your own best time (which makes it ever so _slightly_ more addictive). I'm curious what you think about it, and if you have any ideas where I could take it. Have…

My first iOS game is released. It took me 2 weekends to develop and 9 day approval time. Here are a few promo codes. If you take a promo code, can you please also leave a review? Happy to answer any questions. An update is already being prepared for iPhone support as well as a more major update that adds difficulty adjustments and a "dreaded" twist :-) The Game: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pop-corn/id905859076?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D4 Promo Codes: F79LRP4JNWT4 X94XXNNW77E3 PEWJ77FHTME7 9PHN99RLLE6W

I just finished my first iOS game, Snack Words, which is a real-time, multi-player word finding game. iTunes link: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/snack-words/id425786167?mt=8&ls=1 YouTube video demo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zPQuqoUHqU I wanted to build something very simple and minimal. There's no figuring out who to play, and each game is only 90 seconds long. The backend is 2,400 lines (so short!) of Erlang which speaks a custom protocol (length tagged JSON packets) to the client. The Objective-C side protocol implementation makes heavy use of blocks and works a lot like my…

Yesterday I decided I wanted to experiment with different ways of reading HN. After considering a few options, I settled on a Mac app and spent a couple of hours planning/sketching on paper. This morning I fired up Xcode and spent 4 hours hacking away and I must say I'm liking how it's looking. Since the project is in its very early stages, I though that it could be a very good time to get some feedback. I've posted a few screenshots at http://imgur.com/a/rCbVN and uploaded a binary at http://abra.rm-fr.net/~fiam/HackerNews.zip If you have some free time, give a try and let me know what you…

Built this at a Startup Weekend last November. We've been sitting on this code for months. Would love to have some people signup and throw us a little feedback. Clearly this isn't finished, but with a little crowd support, we could just wrap it up in a weekend. A few things: - Works with Youtube and Vimeo, probably a few others. - Web UI is still pretty sloppy - zero onboarding. sorry. - We have native iPhone and iPad clients that are a handful of bugs from being shipped. Anyone interested in beta testing them, shoot me an email at ddinch :at: gmail. We will beam you up via TestFlight (great…

Raising my hand as someone who's checked Settings > General > Software Update way too many times. I got tired of finding out about iOS updates from Twitter 6 hours after they dropped, so I built EarlyNotify. It's dead simple: the system watches Apple's firmware servers, and when a new iOS/iPadOS/macOS/watchOS/tvOS update hits, you get an email within 15 minutes. That's it. No app to install. No account dashboard. Just an email saying "hey, iOS 26.1 just dropped." It's free, open-source, no upsells, just notifications. Would love any feedback! Happy to answer questions…

Hi everyone let me tell you a story: Back 2 years ago I made Almighty https://www.producthunt.com/posts/almighty as a way to tweak some secrets settings like Showing Finder file extension or simply clear system clipboard quickly. Although the app had poor icon and no landing page, many have found it useful. Since then I've been working on an improvements for it, and when SwiftUI came out I decided to rewrite it from scratch to better leverage SwiftUI The result is Almighty 2 https://onmyway133.com/almighty/ with a nicer looking, both in main window and…

i built a heart rate zone training app for runners. ios + apple watch. custom zones, real-time haptics, post-run graphs. all the “smart” stuff you’d expect. but i never talked to a single runner before building it. not even myself lol. started as a thesis → kept building → added features → added a paywall (€4/month!) → launched it → and yeah… no one cared. zero feedback. zero users. just code in the void. i recently made the whole thing free. not trying to “sell” anything now — just seeing if it’s actually useful, and listening this time. curious how others handle this. ever build…

The game is Dummy Defense. It launched yesterday and is currently at #41 top overall in the US app store. I did some heavy promotion yesterday with a large email list, and FreeAppADay is promoting my other app, SimplePhysics, which is driving quite a few sales. I'd be glad to hear your feedback about the game as well as answer any questions regarding the development or marketing efforts. * I accidently deleted my post this morning and couldn't post again for a while.. lets try this again* Hey Guys. I posted about this a few week ago. Based on the feedback we received we made a new trailer video. I think this one does a better job of showing GamePress and its features. Video can be seen at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZUNhviJLr8 or at www.gamepressapp.com Just a quick reminder of what GamePress is: GamePress lets you create, share and play mobile games right on the iPad. With our robust behaviour system you can create a wide range of genres, so theres really no limit to…

I began learning Swift by building something I wanted, a soundscape mixer that stayed out of the way on OS X and iOS. A few weeks ago I saw others were wanting the same thing based off the feedback in the Noisli thread, so now that the base features are done I wanted to share it. I'd love any feedback, and I hope it's useful to someone else: https://github.com/lukeheuer/soundescape-osx https://github.com/lukeheuer/soundescape-ios
