24 alternatives to Challenge Accepted
Hey HN I built Caccepted - A local-first challenge tracker that helps you stay consistent with goals, habits, workouts, and projects. - Everything runs in your browser, works offline, and doesn’t require creating an account. Why Most trackers feel bloated. I wanted something simple: a single place to manage 30-day challenges, weekly plans, and personal projects. All visible in one daily dashboard. Hello. I was looking for a simple and clean habit tracker. I went through a few apps but felt they were missing something. I also had some time on my hands, so decided to make my own and share it in case anyone else likes it. Some of the supported features: Streaks based, track and beat your longest streaks Fully useable offline Freezes (similar to Duolingo's streak freezes) Visual map for tracking consistency Pause the app when you need a break or will be away For anyone curious about the tech stack: - React for frontend - Dexie cloud for storage and syncing - Vercel for hosting Link:…

Git Pushups▲131Hi HN! I made this app out of necessity: sometimes I'll troll over my laptop all day without moving until lunch break or work is done. No good. So I made git hook to block my git commits if I didn't do some calisthenics. Later, after I noticed it was useful, I decided to open it up for others. It works like this: - Download the iOS or Android app - Install the .git hook - Do daily pushups with the app or else your hooks will fail Pushup form is validated via ARKit/MLKit and the accelerometer and I only use github for authentication. If you find it useful, let me know! Justin

Hey HN, I'm a solo developer and I built Steps: Workout & Pedometer, an iOS pedometer and workout tracker. Last week, two German iOS publications wrote about the app. I didn't pitch them. I didn't send a press release. I didn't even know it was happening. I woke up to a spike in downloads, checked the analytics, and traced it back to their articles. That coverage pushed the app past $1,000 in sales. I still have no idea how they found the app. I'm wondering if anyone here has experience getting featured in publications, whether organically or through outreach. What worked for you? Any tips…

I initially released this as just an IOS app. Since then it has been growing steadily but a lot of people have emailed asking for a web / android version. It took me nearly 2 months to build a version for the web. The nice thing about using Convex as my backend is that all the data is always synced between the app and web. I do not have to setup any syncing logic. The moment you change something in the app, it will reflect on the web version in realtime. I know there are loads of these kind of tools online but it's starting to feel like mine is actually starting to differentiate itself…

I've been working on a side project called Streak.ly with a friend of mine for the past month or so; it's intended to help keep you motivated to do otherwise mundane daily tasks (like do 10 pushups, read for an hour, etc.) by letting you log "streaks" — consecutive days in a row of doing something. It's in private alpha/beta/gamma/whatever right now (has some rough edges to clean up), but is more or less functionally complete and pretty stable. I'm a big fan of the Seinfeld calendar, and have seen other services which do similar things but were unsatisfying to use, either from an aesthetic…

Hello HN, I wanted a simple app to track my fitness progress. Every fitness tracker in the AppStore had too many features for my liking so I made fit-stitch (Free, iOS). It allows you to take snapshots and attach a weight and date to each one. When you've made some progress you can create a before and after picture with a few taps. Hope you find it useful. www.fit-stitch.com

i built a heart rate zone training app for runners. ios + apple watch. custom zones, real-time haptics, post-run graphs. all the “smart” stuff you’d expect. but i never talked to a single runner before building it. not even myself lol. started as a thesis → kept building → added features → added a paywall (€4/month!) → launched it → and yeah… no one cared. zero feedback. zero users. just code in the void. i recently made the whole thing free. not trying to “sell” anything now — just seeing if it’s actually useful, and listening this time. curious how others handle this. ever build…
