Products that do what Diffusion PDF – A Diffusion Image Model Embedded Entirely in a PDF File does

Hey Hacker News! I'm Alex, I'm 19 and I work at Hack Club! The last two weeks i've been messing around with pdfs. I made slop pdf (https://slop.alexvd.dev -- notice the similar website design), a pdf that generates random ai slop stories when you open it, and I was showing that off to one of my friends who suggested I get the LLM to actually work inside the pdf, without an API call to a relay. I laughed at the idea, but then we did some research together, and we managed to find EvanZhouDev's llm.pdf (https://github.com/EvanZhouDev/llm.pdf). Because it existed, I…

Hello HN! It kept surprising me how much of a hassle it is to generate a PDF with decent HTML5 rendering from my SaaS apps. I tried several free libs and APIs but ended up with botched rendering a lot of times. So I set out to simplify this chore by creating an AWS hosted HTML to PDF conversion API that's based on Chrome. This API will allow a dev to just send the HTML to our API and get a PDF in response without having to worry about running and managing Chrome somewhere in their infra. I just finished the first version of my landing page and hosted pdf generation API…

What it is: A fully functional academic journal where every paper must be co-authored by an LLM, and peer review is conducted by a rotating panel of 5 LLMs (Claude, Grok, GPT-4o, Gemini, Llama). If 3+ vote "publish," it's published. If one says "Review could not be parsed into JSON," we celebrate it as a feature. The stack: React + Vite frontend, Convex backend (real-time DB + scheduled functions), Vercel hosting, OpenRouter for multi-model orchestration. Each review costs ~$0.03 and takes 4-8 seconds. Why I built it: Academic publishing is already slop—LLMs write drafts, LLMs review papers,…

Hey HN! Really excited to share this new image de-identifier. Kind of like a game of image telephone, you can upload an image and our app will convert the image to a caption, then will generate an image using stable diffusion using the parameters you set for the model yourself. We had so much fun making this and seeing the varying levels of scary generated images.

Hi guys! I did a hackathon this weekend for leapml.dev and built out a site that lets you generate images with stable diffusion in the browser: https://aiart.fm Each image gets tagged and stored in a database so you can go back and look at what prompts, seeds, step, models people have used to make nice images. There is also a rudeimntary voting system and the homepage is sorted by highest rated. But the most exciting bit is I added my own custom fine tuned model to it last night that I'm calling "Psychedelia". All of the top images one the homepage are using this model. It seems to…

Originally this was more like moltbook — you could plug in your agent, have it post early AI-built projects, and people would review them. But it was honestly pretty boring, and almost no one engaged with it. So I scrapped it. Now the agents just do everything themselves — they share opinions, come up with ideas, review each other, leave feedback, revise things, and sometimes argue. There are about 40 agents right now. They randomly pick from different paid/free models, crawl news based on their preferences, do some research, and then remix that into new ideas. The whole “bury or revive…

About 6 years ago I wrote a blog post [0] with some ideas on how to help popular open source maintainers deal with all the noise on Github. Patted myself in the back and never did anything about it :) There's recently been a lot more discussion around this due to AI, so I've built a simple tool called "Slop Meter" [1]. It gives maintainers a quick snapshot of the user's history in open source: 1) Do they just open issues and expect you to do everything, or will they put in the work to fix the problems and open a PR? What's the issues : PR ratio? 2) If they do contribute, what percentage of…

Hi HN, Lately Github PRs have been drowning in a flood of AI slop. I’ve been seeing it myself, and I’m not the only one: https://x.com/mitchellh/status/2011819428061855915 I think it’s great that folks are using AI tools to code faster and better, but too many folks are abusing them to make low-quality contributions to public repos. This takes a lot of reviewers’ mindshare. IMO there needs to be a mechanism to flag low-effort PRs with AI slop, so you can just skip reading them. So I built one: https://haystackeditor.com/slop-detector It’s a simple AI…

Hi all, I threw together a small prototype I am calling “Notepad.ai”. A new take on UIs for interacting with LLMs. While I enjoy using LLM’s in the chat format I wanted to see what it would be like to do it in a more long form style. It let’s you write in a pretty free form, much like Window’s Notepad, but you can choose to hit ctrl+[ to analyze the text with a preset prompt of your choosing. It has a few other small features. It’s WIP and very experimental. I would appreciate any feedback or thoughts. Video: https://youtu.be/ntdlgFmSxQY Live Demo:…

Hey HN, I built a PDF reader that can generate interactive visualizations right inside the document. The goal is to reduce the “intuition gap” when reading dense papers: select a concept, click Visualize, and it tries to produce a solid visual interactive app where you can rotate/zoom/step through (not just a text explanation). Upload any PDF, select text, click Visualize. Demo (no signup): https://zerodistract.com/try/pdf/67cdee74-810b-4f1b-af7d-010... Product link: https://zerodistract.com I’d love feedback, especially on what feels useful vs.…

Hello HN! We have released a major update of our image-to-video diffusion model, DynamiCrafter, with better dynamic, higher resolution, and stronger coherence. DynamiCrafter can animate open-domain still images based on text prompt by leveraging the pre-trained video diffusion priors. Please check our project page and paper for more information. We will continue to improve the model's performance. Comparisons with Stable Video Diffusion and PikaLabs can be found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NfmIsNAg-g Online demo:…

Hey so I am making my own book reader and wanted to share it with y'all on hackernews and I saw a submission talking about DRM free books[0] so I decided to submit this submission on Hackernews to show what I am upto :-D I prefer minimalism so I have created three different flavors of it depending upon the particular use-cases and I have linked the most minimalist one as the submission. If someone is interested in a Epub/pdf reader, I have recently made one: https://epub.mirror.forum/ After making that, I was also feeling the need of having standard book downloads and…

Hi guys, I’m excited to share an update on ReproModel, an open-source toolbox designed to streamline the testing and reproduction of machine learning models. I, like many of you, have really struggled with benchmarking and comparing models, from missing code, to opaque experiment parameters slowing the process. I decided to take matters into my own hands, and created a mini-toolbox in my free time to streamline the process. The goal is to reduce the time and effort spent on replicating experiments, enabling researchers to focus on innovation rather than setup. Knowing this task is not an…

I’m one of the co-founders of Doctly AI. I wanted to share our story. We didn’t originally set out to build a PDF-to-Markdown parser. It all started when we were building a RAG solution for a company that deals with regulatory agencies. All of their data was in PDFs, and as it is apparently with lawyers, they like to print and scan documents to make it hard on their counterparts. These documents contained complex tables that barely make sense, are rotated, and handwriting is mixed in between. Many pages are number ruled and potentially rotated. We spent a lot of time trying to get clean data…
