hi, this is a project I've been working on and off for the last three months, it's my first non-trivial, non-hello-world, actually useful (at least to me) go project. it would be very nice if you could just try the program and see if it works on your setup! the readme[0] explains how it works, why I wrote it and how it fits in my "command-line centric" computing environment (there is also a video demo[1] :)). if you know go, feel free to take a look at the code and review it! I'm still pretty much new to go and I'd love to hear opinions, feedback and tips from more seasoned go developers :)…

Snapcast is an open-source project that streams audio over network so it can be played synchronously, like Sonos. I recently set it up at home with some Raspberry Pis to play Spotify around my apartment. Here’s how I did it. I tried to show my work, so hopefully people can follow along (I’m no Raspb

I wanted to share the status with the Owncast project. If Wordpress is your self-hosted version of Medium, then this is your self-hosted version of Twitch. I've been little by little chipping away at building an easy to use and super useful live streaming server for individuals. It's still early days, but some recent updates include a dashboard where you can see some basic viewer metrics, configuration settings, and how your hardware is handling all that video crunching. We all know working with video can be intensive on the hardware side, so hopefully this helps people keep tabs on things.…

Hi everyone, I recently published a small open-source project. It’s a minimal network packet analyzer written in Go — designed more like a learning toy than a replacement for Wireshark. It currently supports parsing basic protocols like TLS, DNS, and HTTP, and includes a tiny fuzzing engine to test payload responses. You can inspect raw packet content directly from the terminal. The output is colored for readability, and the code structure is kept simple and clear. The entire program is very small — just about 400 lines of Go code. I know it’s not anywhere near Wireshark’s level, and I still…

Hello all :) I made this BBS for fun and thought you all would enjoy it. Hey HN! I just released go-nbd, a lightweight Go library for effortlessly creating NBD servers and clients. Its a neat tool for creating custom Linux block devices with arbitrary backends, such as a file, byte slice or what I'm planning to use it for, a tape drive. While there are a few partially abandoned projects like this out there already, this library tries to be as maintainable as possible by only implementing the most recent handshake revision and baseline functionality for both the client and the server, while still having enough support to be useful. I'd love to get your feedback :)

We built Gonzo to make log analysis faster and friendlier in the terminal. Think of it like k9s for logs — a TUI that can ingest JSON, text, or OpenTelemetry (OTLP) logs, highlight and boil up patterns, and even run AI models locally or via API to summarize logs. We’re still iterating, so ideas and contributions are welcome!
