Products that do what Explore career opportunities in AI-first companies does
Like many unemployed right now, I've been playing with LLMs and learning a lot. It's an exciting space right now, with many opportunities. So I curated over 100 companies in the space and joined all their opportunities (not only tech) in a single site. I believe it can be interesting for many people recently affected by layoffs and looking to restart in a market that is booming — for better or worse. Exploring the data about the market is also something that I'm starting to look into [1]. Companies can be added for free and get highlighted by sponsoring the site. I hope that someone out…

I've been deeply involved in working with AI agents and large language models (LLMs) for a while now. During a recent job search, I found myself repeatedly explaining my skills and experiences to various assistants. Around the same time, I was creating content for my website to help hiring teams understand my capabilities better and make informed decisions. MCP had started to gain momentum and I saw a way to reduce my toil. So I built an MCP server that can effectively communicate my qualifications as a job candidate. This server acts as an AI-powered resume, providing an understanding of my…

Hi HN! I spent the last year traveling and feeling purposeless after shutting down my last startup (Zage YC S’21) in Dec 2022. There were some obstacles I couldn’t overcome and decided to return investors 50% of their capital. To afford (and justify to myself) traveling, I started consulting as an engineer and product designer. I started (https://backspace.nyc) and it was a good time. I (and some friends) built a handful of AI experiences and learned a lot along the way. The hardest thing about running a services business shipping and selling AI experiences powered by LLMs was…

Many people express that despite working hard, they don't feel like they are in the right career. Instead of getting adhoc advice from friends and family or requiring serendipitity/fortune in landing in a desirable career progression, I made a career planning tool which lets you upload a resume or public linkedin profile and see alternative career paths. You can play with your map, explore alternative trajectories, specify a goal, understand job titles, see job listings and more. I am looking to understand what, if any aspect of this tool is useful, and how I would proceed to build upon…

Searching for job roles in tech? I've been there. For six months, I was stuck in the LinkedIn job application loop, getting nowhere. It was soul-crushing. I started to wonder if I was just a bad developer. But I changed my modus operandi and started reaching out to founders building super cool startups that got recently funded but didnt have the chance to post online yet that they are hiring, the response rate was much more significant and I wwas having super cool convos! This approach was so effective, I turned it into a product. I've tapped into premium data sources (we're talking $25K+…

Hi HN! When I was the Product Management lead for HR Tech at Google, I thought there were several opportunities to integrate LLMs into our tools to make employees more efficient. Managers could get summaries of peer reviews, recruiters could quickly generate personalized outreach letters to candidates, etc. But I had 3 big problems: 1. Third Party Systems: A lot of work happens in Salesforce, Workday, SAP, etc. And we had no way of modifying that code to integrate what we wanted. 2. Legacy Systems: A lot of the tools in our portfolio were oooold, and nobody really wanted to go in and mess…

Hey folks, I'm Yuval. I run a tiny startup called Glitter AI. It's just me full-time here, with a couple of freelances to help here and there. A couple of months ago, I went from managing zero requests to hundreds -- overnight (won Product of the day on Product Hunt). As someone who gets VERY easily distracted (maybe you relate), I had to find some sort of way of handling all the chaos if I didn't want to burn out. I came up with a pretty cool automation flow that I thought folks on HN here may be interested in reading about :) So here goes: Most of my interactions come through Intercom.…

Hey HN! First post btw I want to share a product we are developing right now. It's a thing to gather your data from LinkedIn, GitHub, StackOverflow (and a couple more things in the future) and we obviously use LLMs under the hood :D So the idea of using it is that you don't need to share 69 links and docs and can use one link (or download PDF) now. When you connect all the stuff you will see your profile with a radar chart, which represents your "domains". The next thing will be a section with ai-generated-summary-bio + section with things you're open to. Then a section with work experience…

I've been experimenting with ways to increase AI adoption for non-technical people. Basically, all companies are pushing for AI because it's all over the news and they feel left behind but most people have no clue where to start. I think 90% of people (ie non coders) are sufficiently well served by using cowork instead of claude code or something similar. If we can get people from sales, customer support, marketing, etc to collaborate with skills and cowork to form a company brain, I think it's gold. So I think there's opportunity for the community to share skills that work well for 1000s of…

Hey HN, I’m one of two people working on Hyperscreen AI, an AI that does mock technical interviews with you so you can pass more tech screens. I shut my YC startup down a year ago and had to look for a job afterward. Even though I had interned at and landed multiple FAANG offers out of college, I spent almost 6 months looking for a job after my company failed. I was fortunate enough to get technical screens due to my network, but I failed many of them because I didn’t have anybody to practice with. All of my friends either already had jobs and weren’t looking, or were still working on their…

I was super annoy that all stock news site are filled with distracting Ads and interrupting paywalls. My JP Morgan analyst friend told me that JP spend millions internally to train an AI on news to help their traders filter noise. With the new LLM, we decided to make it better. Research also shows using AI analyze news at scale can outperform the market. Our AI will gather, summarize, and extract news insights for a particular stock. We are testing with a few trading firms in beta and the results were pretty good already. If you are interested, please comment "interested" I will give you…

So I've been obsessed with a weird question for the past 6 months, what happens to SEO when everyone starts asking ChatGPT for recommendations instead of Googling? The answer, apparently, is chaos. And maybe opportunity? I built FirstClick because I noticed something strange. My previous startup was getting zero traffic from AI assistants, but our competitor (objectively worse product, sorry not sorry) was getting mentioned by Claude and Perplexity constantly. It drove me crazy. So I reverse engineered why. Turns out there's a whole new game being played and most founders don't even know it…

Hi! I built Oaki about a year ago as a side project to solve my own frustration with job applications, and it’s now helping thousands of users with their job hunt. I had quit my previous (consulting) company when I decided to step back into the job market, and I HATED applying to jobs with a passion. Finding good jobs, sifting through all the crap, etc.etc. So I built a rough MVP and posted it on Reddit and got more paid users than I ever had with any other company/startup I was in. To top that off, I found a really awesome job (and landed many more interviews) with it, so I know from…

Most of us founders won’t publicly admit it: We’re very lonely and stressed. I know from 20 years of building 4 companies (1 failure, 3 acquisitions). We can’t be truly transparent with our team, board, investors, twitter, family or friends. We want to, but can’t. No matter what we’re thinking or feeling, we have to project strength. During my entrepreneurial journey I longed for a group of always-available experts that met these criteria: 1. Experienced 2. Trustworthy 3. Kind yet extremely direct 4. Available and affordable Obviously now with LLMs like gpt-4-1106-preview, we’re unlocking…

Hi there, I've decided to jump on the AI train and put something together with low effort & high reward, to see if it can get any traction. What do you think? Is it a promising area? Do you guys have ideas for me? There is obviously going to be sea of LLM generated content out there and one project adding up to it might not necessarily be what world needs. In the same time there is something intriguing about the area. Well, please play with it and let me know what y'all think. Much appreciated.

Hey HN, I wanted to see what happens if you put a large group in control of a site that’s completely built and updated by an AI agent. See the site here: https://youarethepm.com. I first tried this with a small group of co-workers and it worked surprisingly well, so the obvious next step was: give it to a bigger group of strangers and see what we learn. This site is fully autonomous. An AI agent reads this thread, decides what to do, writes code, and ships updates on a virtual computer. I might step in if it gets totally stuck, but the goal is for the site to evolve primarily based…
