Products that do what Fastest Python Sandbox does
As developers, we've used StackOverflow, blogs, tutorials, etc to solve our day-to-day code issues and we've been able to find answers to virtually all of our questions. At the same time, CodePen, CodeSandbox, JSFiddle, etc have made it simple to share and execute code for frontend developers but when I look for folks working at the backend side (preferably Python) there is nothing that entices the whole developer community yet. While other Python sandbox solutions are available, they do not provide installation choices or are not intended for embedding and sharing. With this thought, we…

A while ago I started experimenting with compiling the Python interpreter to WASM. To build a secure, fast, and lightweight sandbox for code execution — ideal for running LLM-generated Python code.

Recently, I saw few Python accelerators getting a lot of attention, and I thought it would be a good time to finally present the project that we will make available to test in the upcoming days. Flyable is an ahead-of-time compiler that takes your Python code, analyses it, and outputs very optimized machine code. Micro-benchmarks show that it produces programs that run between 10-70x time faster than Python. Flyable is certainly one of the fastest and easiest ways to accelerate your Python code. It finally allows Python to compete in the ring of fast and efficient languages without having to…

Hey HN. I've just launched my very first webappp and would love your feedback. http://www.7bks.com It's a book list sharing website - kind of like playlists for bookworms. The site is built on pyton/appengine - and I learned to code in under 4 weeks to build the site. There's more details on the background of the site here: http://www.7bks.com/blog/179001 I've also published the full Python code for the site here: https://gist.github.com/670034 Feedback is really important to me and I want to work hard to make the site better so any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated. Hi HN, I'm the author of FastMCP, the most popular Python framework for building MCP servers. I've been really excited about MCP Apps for a while. I think letting a server ship a fully interactive UI directly into the conversation is one of the most compelling additions to the protocol. I wanted to make this a first-class experience in FastMCP, but I kept getting stuck on what it actually means for a Python framework to integrate with a frontend feature. The JavaScript ecosystem has extraordinary tooling for this. I didn't want to build a worse version of it just to stay in Python. What…

Hi HN, We’ve all accepted the "Python tax"—you trade execution speed for developer happiness. But what if that trade-off was a thing of the past? I just came across BustAPI, and it’s basically a "cheat code" for Python web services. It’s not just another wrapper; it’s a hybrid engine that embeds a Rust (Actix-Web) core directly into the Python runtime. Is this the end of the "slow Python" era? The benchmarks are pretty shocking. I’d love to see someone stress-test this against a production-grade Go or Node.js setup. Repo: https://github.com/GrandpaEJ/BustAPI Benchmarks:…

LiveCoder is a fun tool I built almost a year ago to simulate live coding Frontend technologies for my presentations. You actually don't have to live-code, but just prepare beforehand the program, snippets of HTML, CSS and Javascript and you feed the tool with it, so you can just focus on explaining what's being coded. Simple :-) I never really shared this tool, but I used it in a few presentations quite succesfully, so I think it could be an interesting tool to use. You have full control of the speed. You can pause and resume... An entire app can be live-coded with this. It's quite fun to…

This is a little project I've been working on for a while in order to better learn Python. Although IRC may not exactly be the most exciting medium, I still find it to be fun and useful, this interest lead me to writing a bot. In doing this I realized that what would actually be more interesting would be if I had a framework. There may already be such a thing, certainly there are IRC libraries, but I don't know if they're well-suited to deploying bots. At any rate if for no other reason than the fact that I am relatively new to programming and eager to learn I decided to build a framework.…

We made this extension that lets you run any python code on the web by using Pyodide. You can try it by installing this VSCode extension on GitHub.dev / VSCode.dev. Since it is using pyodide to run python code, there are some limitations which we have listed in the extension’s README page. We made this scrappy extension quickly as a POC for Stanford’s Code in Place program. Let us know if this is interesting and what features should we add next!

I found a serious bottleneck in Python binding of Wasmer and Wasmtime and I found a trick to make 25x faster. Then beat all that using NumPy.

Hi! I’ve always wanted a simple way to throw my Python projects online. Just to try things out, share them, or test a webhook with a real endpoint. But every time I hit the same wall: Buy a server, Set up HTTPS, Configure DNS, Get a domain. Write boilerplate to glue it together. It always felt like too much for something so small that I wanted to test. So Ive been hacking on Thread4 (currently in alpha): a tiny platform where you can write a Python function and go live instantly at yourname.thread4.eu. It’s not for production use, just quick testing, experimenting, or sharing your idea…

If you really want people to use your stuff, you should make it easy to get started as possible. For interacting with Github Actions, that means setting up OIDC, so you can prove who did what in which repo when - according to Github themselves. That means for a dev on the other end of things, it should be as easy as: ```yaml -uses atopile/do-thing@v1 ``` Hitch is, boy oh boy was this a PITA to get working in the first place. Honestly, I'd probably rather walk on lego for half an hour. Hopefully, this package should make it a piece of cake - and we all have to mint fewer tokens manually

Hi there, I built a React code editor component that also compiles, executes and returns the outputs of the program written in it (via pyodide/webassembly). I believe that this is a useful package for those building projects with web-based code editors. Expanding the library to be more flexible + have greater language support is a goal for the future. Hope it helps someone out there - please feel free to reach out if I can assist. Feedback and suggestions are always welcome.

Hey all, I am Paul, an indie-dev, I am working on this web based Drag and drop GUI builder tool for python. It's still in beta and currently supports tkinter and customtk. It can generate clean code python for the UI you build. You can check out the source code here: https://github.com/PaulleDemon/PyUIBuilder Feel free to check it out. Thanks!

Hello HN, Pietro here! I've been really excited to see the recent buzz around MCP and all the cool things people are building with it. Though, the fact that you can use it only through desktop apps really seemed wrong and prevented me for trying most examples, so I wrote a simple client, then I wrapped into some class, and I ended up creating a python package that abstracts some of the async uglyness. You need: * one of those MCPconfig JSONs * 6 lines of code and you can have an agent use the MCP tools from python. The structure is simple: an MCP client creates and manages the connection and…

Google Docs for Python basically. For the past 4 months, I’ve been working on a full-stack project I’m really proud of called PyTogether; a real-time collaborative Python IDE designed with beginners in mind (think Google Docs, but for Python). It’s meant for pair programming, tutoring, or just learning Python together. It’s completely free. No subscriptions, no ads, nothing. Just create an account, make a group, and start a project. Has proper code-linting, live drawings for note-taking or teaching, voice chat, an extremely intuitive UI, autosaving, and live cursors. There are no limitations…

It's very early days for the project, but I wanted to share it to see if there is interest. It is the final piece of the FastAPI server-side rendering stack I started building with FastHX and htmy (the two dependencies of this project besides FastAPI). Think of it as a more powerful and convenient alternative to tools like FastHTML, powered by FastAPI (without any modifications). I hope you'll like it.

Hi HN, I built Weft over the last two weeks of Christmas break. I was teaching my kids Python and noticed the lack of interactivity in some of their learning experiences. The feedback loop was too long. I wanted to provide them with an experience similar to Bret Victor's concepts on Learnable Programming; i.e. an easier way to learn is to see immediately the reaction to your actions. Hence the reactivity ;) It is currently in early alpha and I’m planning to open-source the repo under AGPLv3 soon once I clean up the prototype code. I wrote up a short blog post with more details on the "Why"…
