It's been a few months since the last HN post. I've added lots of new features to this app. One of them is Services - you can now run background tasks like a web server or game server. I'd love to hear your feedback, thanks!

ohai! I've released Lightwhale 3, which is possibly the easiest way to self-host Docker containers. It's a free, immutable Linux system purpose-built to live-boot straight into a working Docker Engine, thereby shortcutting the need for installation, configuration, and maintenance. Its simple design makes it easy to learn, and its low memory footprint should make it especially attractive during these times of RAMageddon. If this has piqued your interest, do check it out, along with its easy-to-follow Getting Started guide. In any event, have a nice day! =)

For folks that set up their own instance, it can also become a framework for customized building. The entire project is open source and I tried my best to document and explain the structure of…

We built it from the ground up, minimal Linux based operating system (written in go and rust), messaging system written in rust and infrastructure as code support (terraform and pulumi) There is even a dashboard, and a playground UI to manage it (that you can even run yourself) . Beautifully decentralized, you have full control of everything, you can deploy on your own servers if the cost of the cloud is too much. You can even run the whole system yourself if you want to. Here is a link to documentation https://manual.grid.tf/ Also, we are honored if it piqued your interest,…
