Products that do what Fonic – turning scattered work into a shareable report does

Hi HN! We’ve been working on Fonic, a tool for turning scattered notes, metric, transcripts, screenshots, and project updates into an interactive report you can easily share. Here’s a quick demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNzw_h2Ztnw We kept hearing the same complaint from account managers: they were spending hours every week building client updates. Most of the source material already existed. The hard part was pulling it together from docs, Slack threads, screenshots, transcripts, and project tools and turning it into something they're proud enough to send. We found…

Hi HN! I’m Alex from Parabola (https://parabola.io). Parabola is a visual programming tool for creating functional data flows that everyone can use. It’s entirely drag-and-drop, handles data sizes much larger than a traditional spreadsheet, calculates everything live, and can run your flows on a schedule of your choosing. I used to work in strategy consulting, doing data analytics for SMBs and Fortune 500 companies. The amount of time wasted on menial tasks was astounding. Things like cleaning data, generating custom reports, creating human workflows to solve shortcomings in third…

Hi HN, 8 months ago, I posted “Ask HN: I built it nobody came, what now?” and got a ton of (not very optimistic) feedback [1]. I took away 3 things: 1. The message wasn’t properly targeted 2. The onboarding experience was terrible. 3. Someone posted some advice to find leads which actually worked, yeah! So here we are. 8 months later. I unfortunately didn’t have a lot of time to put in the tool itself. But I improved the website, improved the onboarding, and got a paying customer who seems to really like the software. So here it is in its current form. Let me know what you think would make…

597 days ago, I posted about the project our team was developing - https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=3183322 - here on HN, and today we're finally taking the wraps off what we've been working on since then. At it's core, what we've been building is an end-to-end solution for creating, storing, and working with structured content in a way that's accessible to anyone. You can check out an introduction - http://team.marquee.by/introducing-marquee/ and dig into the technical/philosophical details of our approach -…

I have been a daily HN reader and would like to use this as a starting point to show SimWorkflow so that the HN community can get to know SimWorkflow. This project has been the love child of myself for the past year or so. A bit of background: Previously, I worked as a consultant specializing in designing, implementing, and maintaining Business Process Management and Content Management Solutions. I was surprised at the effort required to implement such solutions; specifically, the time it took, the number of people involved, and the amount of custom code. I thought: What if we could make…

A friend and I built this as a side project to help us collaborate on files with our agents. Claude / Codex kept outputting .md and .html files which are great until we needed to share them, so we built this small website to help with that. Agent can either use an HTTP + Skill or an MCP which also uses MCP Apps to add widgets to Claude Desktop / Mobile chat. Would love any feedback and hopefully this helps someone else as it did us!

Hey all, I built a quick PoC that scrapes a webpage, sends the content to Gemini Flash, and outputs a clean, structured JSON — ready for RAG workflows. In my case, I’ll use this structured data to enhance models by integrating external knowledge sources during the generation process. Curious if you think this has potential or if there are any use cases I might have missed. Happy to share more details if there's interest!

Hello HN! I did a Show HN a while ago regarding a project I’ve been working on called SheetSQL, which enables users to query and join their Google Sheets data with simple SQL in seconds. > https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=39689685 I’m happy to announce a new feature: Workflows! With workflows you will be able to define data operations that transform or operate over your sheets as sources. Currently the supported operations are SheetSQL queries and sending an email with the output of an operation. Expect more to come soon! You can think of a workflow as a DAG (directed…

Hey HN, This weekend I built an excel spreadsheet so that you can come up with your next (scalable) service idea. If you are a consultant / agency and are looking to move from to build a scalable business / valuable asset, this is for you! WHY I built this: - Many people want to start their business but can't find an idea - Many people build stuff / services that nobody want - Ideas are great but execution is what matters: See what others have done successfully, get inspired, and do your own thing! The framework is called the Productized Service Matrix. --- It features in…

Hi HN, I'm the CEO at https://replay.io. We've been working on time travel debugging for web development for a while (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=28539247) and more recently an AI app builder that uses that debugger to get past problems instead of spinning in circles (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=43258585). We've gotten to where we can pretty easily build apps to replace business-critical SaaS tools, some of which we're now using internally: * We built our own issue tracker to keep track of all our development projects, tickets, bug…

A few friends and I just launched a web app to help people prepare for technical SWE/SDE internship interviews! We want to make it easier for people to prepare for interviews, especially for some of the largest tech companies. Core features include easy progress tracking, one-click link sharing, company-specific lists, and topic & difficulty-wise problem filtering. The problem list isn’t exhaustive and we are still looking for more open-source data to make our list more extensive. We want to hear about the bugs you find as this is the beta version. If you have any improvements to…

Hey HN, As a freelancer, I found myself spending time every month manually opening PDF and Word invoices, copying the details into a spreadsheet, and tracking payments. It was tedious and error-prone. I decided to build a simple desktop app to automate this. It's a GUI built with Python and Tkinter that points to a folder of invoices, parses the key details (invoice #, amount, date), and stores everything in a local SQLite database for tracking and analysis. It's been quite a time- and headache-saver for me. A Note on Simplicity & Caveats I'm sharing this in case it's useful to any other…

I built this because I was tired of creating pull requests in 20 repositories just to change a single line of workflow job version. With Infra as AI, just mention the change. Agents work on all repos in parallel, read the docs, make a bunch of PRs and fill in the description. You can see the demo of the actual dashboard in the landing. Let me know your thoughts :) It means a lot to me!

As a front-end engineer that worked in multiple product teams, there are a lot of discussions between PM/Designers/Engineers made to ensure everyone's aligned before features/fixes are shipped. I'm building a tool to make this process easier, so teams can ship faster. Ditch the screenshots/screen recordings, and simplify communication in a single tool. Got some features in mind, but I wanted to get some thoughts from the HN community. Thanks for checking it out! Happy to answer any questions.

Hey HN, I have been working in the last weeks on the task of automatically extracting a table of contents from a raw (audio or video) transcript, aka a 'chaptering' task. That turned out to be more difficult than I inially thought, especially because I needed to keep the timestamp data, and because I had to deal with long transcripts, and LLMs tend to 'forget' part of input data when it is too long. I was also surprised that I could not find any open-source solution for that, in standard libraries like Langchain or LLamaIndex, despite the wide range of possible use cases (text summarization,…
