24 alternatives to Scribefully

Hey HN! I'm a founder first, lawyer second. I understand code stacks well enough to explain them, but I've never been able to actually build software, and this has been a chip on my shoulder my entire life. So Scribefully started as my first vibe coding project last summer. I'd read that building something with HN-style upvoting was a good learning project, and I was curious to try Claude Code. The more I built, the more I realized I wanted what it evolved into: a single place to aggregate all my scattered professional work -– articles, papers, videos, code -– into one shareable page, with…

A few days ago, I responded to a comment by bloggergirl offering to read anyone's web copy and help. I shot off an email hoping for a paragraph or two of feedback on my startup's copy. Instead I received a professional, detailed deck of tons of invaluable well thought out feedback. It must have taken her an entire afternoon. Here's a link to it: http://www.slideshare.net/shereefb/recommendations-for-bettermeans To top it off, this isn't someone with a lot of free time on her hands, she's only days away from launching her own startup (page99test) This community blows my mind!

Hi HN, I have been making side projects since I was 14, and my team mate (this is his very first side project! Congrats!) designed and implemented the UI. Over time, people kept asking me how they could start coding and turn ideas into reality. So we had an idea. Coding is changing. With AI, the bottleneck is no longer writing every line by hand but knowing how to prompt effectively to reach a working outcome. Our objective is not to make people code better, or even learn to be a proficient software engineer, but just to keep it simple and start building. We want to remove fear and barriers…

It was quite interesting to vibe code this artifact. I learned some basic ideas about commitment scheme and hash cryptography in the half and hour spent on this. One of the few times vibe coding left me feeling enriched rather than drained. What do you think?

Hi HN, I’m a product designer by background, not a traditional software engineer. Over the last year, tools like Claude and ChatGPT completely changed how I work. I started with small internal tools, and now I’m “vibe coding” multiple highly personalized apps. As I iterated between Claude Code (implementation) and ChatGPT (ideation / thinking), I kept running into the same problem. To think clearly, I had to repeatedly re-explain: - what the code currently does, - what changed recently, - and why certain decisions were made. That re-summarization step became a real bottleneck. So I…

Howdy friends. I've been a zero to one product manager for 12 plus years and along the way I kept borrowing pieces from different discovery frameworks until I had a methodology of my own, one that actually raises the odds of an idea succeeding. This does not replace user interviews obviously, but it leads you in the right direction. Looking forward for your feedback

I was going through my app subscriptions and realized I was paying $15 for a pretty good workout app, which seemed a bit high to me. As a software engineer who is also well versed in claude code, I realized that I could likely vibecode a very similar app, or even build something more to my liking. I challenged my self to build something roughly equivalent this afternoon. Workflow was: start with a detailed spec from Claude code describing many of the features common in workout apps. Then paste this into lovable to have it build out the initial mvp. Once that was built, I used claude code…

I've been wanting a simple sticky notes board as my browser's new tab page for ages. So last week I built one in half a day using Claude Code. It's written in Vue 3, client-only. The code quality honestly surprised me. I wrote an extensive prompt: what it should do, what it should look like, how I wanted the project set up, reusable components, composables, what I wanted and didn't want. Put Claude to work, went for a walk, came back to more or less what you see on the site. It wrote some code I would've done differently, but it also did useful things I hadn't thought of. No backend, no…

Hey HN community, I built a tool that helps optimize your post for hitting the first page of Show HN. How it works: I used a Hugging Face dataset of all Hacker News posts from the past 3 years and trained a model that predicts how successful your post might be. There's still a lot of randomness on HN, so nothing is guaranteed, but the tool helps optimize your post for higher odds. A couple of interesting findings: - GitHub repo links work x3 better than regular domains - Open-source tools have a steady virality rate (13.9% - one of the highest) - "I built" outperforms "We built" - Using…

Hey HN! I wanted to practice "vibe coding" and see how far and fast I can go by only prompting, without actual coding. I decided to make a simple CLI app that scrapes web docs into a single md file (I was annoyed that LLM keeps writing Tailwind 3 code for a Tailwind 4 project). In just a couple of hours, the CLI app was ready! Then iterated on arguments for another couple of hours. Result: https://github.com/vladstudio/web2llm Then I decided to go further and "productize" the CLI by making a web app for it. Another half-day, and the web app is ready!…

Hi Hacker News! I’m Ritam, working with the small but mighty team at Nori. We’ve been obsessed in recent months with how to take tools like Claude Code from “I’ll experiment around with this” to “This is the most useful and necessary thing I use every day”. When I first sat down with our team to check out what they’d built, I found my skepticism about agentic coding melting away—they’d built useful, high quality, handwritten skills, instructions that functioned as “skillsets” to tie skills together for consistent and replicable results, and tooling to manage loading the right context for the…

Hello! I’ve been reading Hacker News for years and have a bad habit of favoriting articles but never actually going back to read them. I finally built hnbuffer to scratch my own itch and help me work through that backlog. I also mainly built this as an excuse to learn/use some of the languages/frameworks/tools since I have another backlog of things I wanted to try too. It syncs your favorites into a queue with a reader mode and swipe gestures. The streak tracking is something I'm still experimenting with. Note: It requires an HN login to scrape the favorites list (credentials…

Been feeling a bit left out in this fast paced world of ML/AI, so built my first ML project since college. The idea is to scrape the most recent HN article titles and use TF-IDF and cosine similarity as metrics to rank articles that you're interested in to filter out only relevant things. Hopefully a fun project for beginners to get inspiration to jump into this world.

Hey HN, I'm a 16-year-old indie hacker building small tools for freelancers. I recently launched Testimo – a simple tool that helps freelancers collect feedback from clients without awkwardly chasing them or getting ghosted. The process is dead simple: Send a clean feedback page link to your client They answer a few guided questions You get a testimonial you can reuse anywhere I built this after being ghosted by clients myself after finishing freelance video editing projects – wanted to make the process feel more natural and automated. I’d love feedback on: The landing page:…

Hey HN, I built ScribeAI to help founders/entrepreneurs avoid wasting months on bad startup ideas. Too many of us fall in love with an idea, spend time building, and then realize there’s no market for it. I’ve been there, and I wanted a faster, data-driven way to validate ideas. How it works: 1⃣ Enter your startup idea 2⃣ ScribeAI scans the web for competitors, trends, and risks 3⃣ Get an instant breakdown: Should you pursue it or not? No more endless Googling or guessing if your idea is worth it. Just quick, actionable insights. I’d love your feedback! What would make this more useful…

Hi everyone, I just saw a vibe coded game on HN, and thought maybe I should post about this here. I'm organizing a vibe coding game dev competition called Vibe Jam. Last year we did it too and there was 1000+ games submitted. This year the deadline is May 1 and you can submit your games until then. There's $35,000 in prizes with the Gold prize being $20,000. I’ll put the tl;dr up front: I built my first web app with HN’s news.arc: http://hubski.com The long version (I can be verbose): Recently, I was in a startup that sputtered out. It was my seed idea, but my contribution was on the design/UI end. We applied to YC fall 2010, and were rejected (rightfully so, in retrospect). My previous coding experience entails a bit of Fortran from undergrad research, and building a couple of simple websites (Frontpage even. o-O). Anyway, I had tons of energy for the project, but lamented not being able to contribute to coding, where it was badly needed. After…

Fun little project, had Gemini 2.5 Pro summarize HN's top 30 each hour, both the stories and comment sections. Pretty impressed with Gemini 2.5. It's probably the first model other than Claude 3.7 Sonnet where I actually find the output readable. I normally use 3.7 Sonnet for coding, but used Gemini for the codegen on this one as well. Was pretty impressed! Using Cursor, it seemed to instruction-follow better than Claude generally does, and remain lucid during very long agent sessions. Thanks for your feedback!

So my fiance and I are addicted to Hacker News and we have learned a lot about startups on here. We had an idea for a startup that would have taken a lot of time and resources to build but thanks to Hacker News we have learned about people like Eric Ries, Steven Blank and the whole customer development strategy. We decided to build the MVP for our startup to see if there was a market for our original idea and also raise money for our wedding. We shaved off all of the crazy features and launched https://www.crowdbundle.com/ Hacker News taught us to build a MVP and make sure there was a market…

Back in October, the "HN Make November Launch an App Month" discussion was started and it sounded like a great opportunity, so I joined the Facebook group and decided to build my take on an iOS version of the classic Quotefalls puzzle game, thinking I would learn a ton and it would be a great way to get my feet wet with making, marketing, and managing my own software. A week before the group presentation (end of Nov.), I took my project off the project list because I was nowhere near finished. One of the many great things I’ve learned in all this is how easy it is to justify all the feature…
