Products that do what GlobeHoppr – find a route between cities using limited-distance jumps does
Hi HN, I built a game where you have to travel from point A to B by hopping through intermediate cities. Each jump has a maximum range, so you can’t simply select the destination. You need to build a route through cities that are close enough together, using as few jumps as possible. It sounds straightforward until you need to cross a part of the world where you only know one or two cities. I’ve found that the game exposes a different kind of geographical knowledge: not just knowing where countries are, but understanding how cities connect across a region. There’s a fixed daily route that…

Hey HN, My co-founders and I have been building GridTravel, a free iOS app for planning and sharing travel routes with turn-by-turn GPS nav. We just launched yesterday after App Store approval. We're three 21-year-old cofounders and best friends since middle school. We built GridTravel after years of frustration navigating new cities on every trip we took together. The idea: most people either search Google for "top 10 places to visit in…" lists or go on social media to get inspiration on where to go. GridTravel is built around user-generated routes — actual paths someone walked, that you…

Hello HN, I made the web app that helps plan your routes/road trips. It has so many options that I don’t know how to explain in simple words :), so I’ll try like this. What is cool about it is that your routes are shareable and hackable. The routes come in the format ie. https://camptarget.com/London,Uk/Vienna,AT/Istanbul,TR/5h:6d, meaning we travel from London via Vienna to Istanbul, driving 5 hours daily while our total time budget would be 6 days. At given breakpoints (after 5 hours) we can explore the nearby locality in radius of some 30-40 miles, for…

One station to find per day, 2 or 3 gamemodes depending on the city (if your city is not live yet, or you can't find it in the selector, try https://dailymetro.live/cityname/mode/classic ) Like https://dailymetro.live/sf/mode/classic for San Francisco Got huge traction in France, so I thought maybe you'll like it here too :) Made with Claude code but still took at least 50-100h of dev/design/taking user feedbacks ahahah Hope you like it

I've built this as a side project last month. I know there are a few similar sites out there, but I've found them cumbersome to navigate with ads that slow down the experience. So I decided to take a stab at it and build my own version, with a minimalist UI (+ I implemented a custom right-click menu to enable navigation even when the UI is hidden), ad-free, just for fun. There are over 130+ cities that you can explore right now, but I'm constantly adding new ones.
