Hello, HN! Figure is a little side project I’ve been working on. Someone described it as Bejeweled meets Wordle. I built the puzzle interface and website in Next.js and React, which was a first for me and overall a great learning experience. The daily puzzle data is queued up in a PostgreSQL table. Another table stores anonymous solve stats. Once a day, a cron job hits a serverless API that promotes the next puzzle as “live” and prompts Next.js to update the prebaked static site with the new data. The game state is managed with Redux and your stats are persisted to localStorage. Framer…

Domino fit is a domino tiling puzzler I spent a lot of time both making and playing. Its like sudoku but with a geometric angle, the sum of the dots must match the row and column numbers. It's running on Betsy, the server under my couch, and was made with typescript. I'm proud of it. I hope you give it a shot, and appreciate any thoughts or criticisms!

I’ve been working on a puzzle game for a few years as a side project. The game is based on a small region of tiles in a grid that is mirrored, modified, and mirrored again. It’s based on a novel phenomenon I noticed where, once these mutations happen a few times, the original region can be hard to recognize. You have a feeling there are symmetries in the image, but they are just out of grasp. Going further, if only part of the region is visible, such as mirroring off the edge of the board, it adds to the feeling and it becomes a satisfying puzzle to solve. I originally published this on the…

I’ve been building a few small games to help kids (and curious adults) build reasoning and logic skills. Think Word Ladder, Prime Hunter, Math Maze ,all in the browser, no installs. Would love feedback or suggestions for new types of puzzles

Hi, I built Equatile, a logic-based puzzle game where you arrange number tiles on a grid to make every row and column equal their target values. It's built using Expo and is available for free on iOS, Android, and the Web. It's a game I've had in mind for almost 10 years now but never got to actually develop, until I came across Expo which made the process incredibly easy. I might open source the code on GitHub. I hope you enjoy playing it!

Hey HN, About twenty years ago, while I was in college, I first stumbled upon James Propp's Self-Referential Aptitude Test [1] and absolutely loved it. Ever since then, I've had this idea of turning that concept into a daily game, and I've finally built it: https://www.logiquiz.com/ The game interface checks each question against the answers you've given, so it doesn't spoil anything by giving away the answers. There are five different tests each day, from very easy to very hard. I'd love to hear what you think! [1]: https://faculty.uml.edu/jpropp/srat-Q.txt
