Hey everyone, I've made this website that I hope can help some people. The original inspiration comes from being tired of having a specific site (and finding it!!) that serves my needs for a single purpose. Straight forward tools, no fuss. The objective is to be fully in-browser, no login and if possible without contacting a remote server. PGP Key Analyser - Analyze PGP keys directly in your browser - finally I can see the infos without having to download the key on my device Proton Date - Check ProtonMail account creation dates - pretty niche I admit Favicon Hash - Generate website favicon…

Hey all, wanted to share my recent weekend hack project. I wanted to improve upon the existing space for looking up information about IP addresses and ASNs. The backend is written in Rust and pulls BGP data every 8 hours from the RIPE RIS project to build up a routing table and also adds geolocation information. The frontend is using React and Tailwind. Would love any feedback or suggestions on what to improve.

Yes, it's open source: https://github.com/lissy93/web-check :) Why I'm building this? There are a lot of tools out there for discovering meta and security data relating to a website, IP or server. But currently, there isn't anything that does everything, all in one place and without a paywall/ user sign up. It's still a WIP, and I'm working on a new version, with some more comprehensive checks, so any feedback would be much appreciated :)

Hi everyone, I recently published a small open-source project. It’s a minimal network packet analyzer written in Go — designed more like a learning toy than a replacement for Wireshark. It currently supports parsing basic protocols like TLS, DNS, and HTTP, and includes a tiny fuzzing engine to test payload responses. You can inspect raw packet content directly from the terminal. The output is colored for readability, and the code structure is kept simple and clear. The entire program is very small — just about 400 lines of Go code. I know it’s not anywhere near Wireshark’s level, and I still…

Hi HN, When working with BGP data, I kept running into the same friction: it’s easy to get raw data, but surprisingly hard to browse networks over time — especially by when they appeared, where they operate, and what they actually look like at a glance. I built a small tool, bgpscout.io, to scratch that itch. It lets you: Browse ASNs by registration date and geography See where a given network appears to have presence View commonly scattered public data about an ASN in one place Save searches to track when new networks matching certain criteria appear All of this data is public already; the…

Howdy HN! I find myself testing my ping from time to time, especially when my internet seems wonky while WFH. It feels like there should be an easier way test my ping than puling up a terminal or a complex web app - especially when I'm on my phone or any other device that doesn't have a terminal. I figured I should be the change I wish to see in the world and created this super light ping test. I also created a latency monitoring solution (https://github.com/cjjeakle/network-monitor), feel free to clone and try it out! I know there are a lot more mature monitoring…

Hi HN, I thought it would be fun to plot a traceroute on a map to visually see the path packets take. I know this idea has been done before, but I still wanted to scratch that itch. The first version just let you paste in a traceroute and it would plot the hops on a map. Later I discovered Globalping (https://globalping.io), which allows you to run traceroutes and MTRs from probes around the world, so I integrated that into the tool. From playing around with it, I noticed a few interesting things: • It's very easy to spot incorrect IP geolocation. If a hop shows 1–2 ms latency but…

I've frequently found myself using [nvitop](https://github.com/XuehaiPan/nvitop) to diagnose GPU/CPU contention issues. The two best things about it are: - It's easy to install if I can access pip in the container - It makes a compelling screenshot (which helps me communicate with coworkers.) With those two lessons in mind: Here is Sping! Purpose: Help observe and diagnose latency issues at layer 4+ (TCP/HTTP/HTTPS) Two good things about it: - It's easy to install if you have pip. Hi, I created httpdbg, a tool for Python developers to easily debug HTTP(S) client requests in Python programs. I developed it because I needed a tool that could help me trace the HTTP requests sent by my tests back to the corresponding methods in our API client. The goal of this tool is to simplify the debugging process, so I designed it to be as simple as possible. It requires no external dependencies, no setup, no superuser privileges, and no code modifications. I'm sharing it with you today because I use it regularly, and it seems like others have found it useful too—so it might be…

Hi HN - I’m the developer of PingStalker, a macOS utility I built to see what’s really happening on the LAN/WLAN. I live in the CLI, but when it came to discovery and monitoring, I found it limiting. So I built a GUI that brings my favorite tools together in one place. PingStalker started because I wanted to know if something on the network was scanning my machine. I also wanted quick access to core details—external IP, Wi-Fi data, and local topology. Then I wanted more: fast, reliable scans using ARP tables and ICMP. As a Wi-Fi engineer, I couldn’t stop there. I kept adding ways to…

I'm launching Wirewiki.com today! Wirewiki makes the internet’s hidden infrastructure browsable. I quit my job 5 years ago to scale Nslookup.io. But after reaching 600k monthly users, I hit a ceiling. I couldn't naturally expand beyond DNS because of the domain name. So I went back to the drawing board: how would I make it today? Not as a collection of tools, but as a browsable graph. I've spent hundreds of hours and commits building that. It's not even at 10% of what I want it to be, but more than enough to be useful, and (in my biased opinion) much better than what's out there. Wirewiki…
