Products that do what Instant body doubling for your ADHD (interview work trial project) does
Hey HN community! As part of a paid work trial at our startup Flow Club (YC S21), our candidate scoped, built and marketed a simple webapp designed to boost productivity and help people, especially those with ADHD, stay focused through the power of body doubling. I'd love to show it to you! Body doubling is a popular self-management technique where doing your work in the presence of others can help you stay focused, present, and accountable while reducing the feeling of fatigue and isolation that make us prone to distraction and overthinking. We’d love to show it to you. Key features: -…

My cofounder and I have been working on a site called Fitocracy (www.fitocracy.com), which is a social game for fitness. The idea was very much inspired by our experiences growing up as nerds playing video games, later on discovering weightlifting, and drawing the parallel between working out and "leveling yourself up." XKCD has a pretty well known comic to this effect: http://xkcd.com/189/. We find that the metaphor of workout out as leveling up in a video game resonates with quite a few people, so Fitocracy is an attempt to bring that to life. On Fitocracy, tracking your workouts earns you…

Hey HN, I've struggled with time-blindness my whole life. ADHD means I can write 14 tasks on a to-do list and genuinely believe I'll finish them before lunch. Reality disagrees at 11 PM when everything falls apart. DayZen is my solution: your day as a 24-hour radial clock. Tasks become colored arcs. When the circle fills up, it's full. No more lying to yourself about what actually fits. Just shipped 1.4 with Focus Mode The new version adds features I've wanted since day one: Focus Mode: Full-screen timer that zooms into your current task. Distractions fade, simple controls keep you on track.…

Two years ago, someone on HN shared an interesting ADHD hack: a tiny LED that blinks at 120 bpm and gradually slows to 60 bpm, supposedly helping your brain sync and calm down into focus mode. I found Qiaogun's implementation (ADHD_Blink) for M5StickC Plus, and adapted it for the newer M5StickC Plus2 with some tweaks - simpler 50% duty cycle flash, configurable ramp-down, auto sleep, etc. Honestly, I'm not sure if it actually works. I'll be trying it out myself to see. But the building process itself was quite fascinating. I used Claude Code for the entire implementation - from reading the…

Hi HN community, As a busy techie with kids and other family obligations and my recent health diagnosis, I wanted an efficient way to integrate workouts in my daily routine and my research indicated that HIIT/Tabata style routines fit that requirement much better than a dedicated long running/planned workout routine. I made a simple PWA to help me with that endeavor that I have found useful and hoping some of you may like it as well. No sign ups needed but you can sign in if you'd like to save custom presets and history/progress. You may also enjoy some of the fitness…

I struggled to focus at work due to my ADHD. So I built Forget to help me focus. It helps you focusing on one task at a time. There's a visual timer and some cool animations. I've made it free to use for ppl like me to benefit. Give it a try: https://forget.work
