24 alternatives to Juice Box – A virtual machine designed for programming workshops

A month ago I decided to take another stab at proposing a solution to allow all of us to keep working on great programming workshops. Personally, the biggest headache in each and every one of the w…

The HN community may find the context of the prompts, organized by each turn in each session, the most useful. See the website/docs/prompts.md and session-X.md files. I also started exploring some workflows for the LLM to execute, organized in the website/docs/tasks/ folder. I found it pretty handy to have the LLM document our work as we went and simply embedded the static site into the executable, along with all the music and logic. The whole project took me about a day for the backend. The C++ controller itself took only a few turns. I enjoyed focusing on my son's…

This whole product really is a labor of love to the WordPress community from myself. I've always wanted to somehow be a part of pushing the WordPress community towards using modern build tools, package management, version control and of course, proper deployments. What started as a tiny command line script that automated my own personal local dev workflow and has since grown into a rather robust WordPress development toolkit, handling everything from configuring a dev environment, wrangling build tools, all the way to painless SSH deployments. Though it hasn't gained much traction, I believe…

This was submitted before but it didn't seem to get much attention because I don't think the title was very descriptive and the submitter was brand new. I almost didn't click it but once I did I thought the project was pretty awesome and had a lot of promise. Hope this doesn't violate the rules, I have no horse in the game, but the creator is here on the site so hopefully he'll be able to answer your questions.

I've been tired with the current options on the market for awhile and decided to do something about it after the running into the disaster that is MLOps at my last two startups and having to manage a multiple operation platforms both for my fellow ML engineers, the general application CI/CD and orchestration layers while simultaneously building the application itself. Its still extremely early for the product but its functioning and is well on its way. I'd love feedback on the approach and peoples thoughts on the problem space. Personally my irritations have been in the poor tooling,…

I have been a daily HN reader and would like to use this as a starting point to show SimWorkflow so that the HN community can get to know SimWorkflow. This project has been the love child of myself for the past year or so. A bit of background: Previously, I worked as a consultant specializing in designing, implementing, and maintaining Business Process Management and Content Management Solutions. I was surprised at the effort required to implement such solutions; specifically, the time it took, the number of people involved, and the amount of custom code. I thought: What if we could make…

Hello Hacker News community! I'm currently working in financial risk management within the banking sector, and I began my career as a Data Science specialist. For quite some time, my friend and I have been developing a small pet project just for fun. This tool has repeatedly helped us save time when testing various hypotheses and machine learning models. The core idea is to combine different scripts—created in various programming languages and virtual environments—within a minimalist graphical interface. Whether you're building models, running a local neural network, or sending requests to…

I spent the past week implementing a 1 Layer Neural Net and training it on MNIST within the visual scripting language provided by scratch.mit.edu. It was tedious, but ultimately not too difficult. The code runs incredibly slowly, so much so that 64 samples of MNIST takes 5+ hours to train on my machine. There were a lot of little mini challenges that were fun to overcome (implementing softmax was very tricky). If you're interested, I encourage you to try and improve on it! More details in the linked blog post.

VSCode was my daily driver for years, but once I started running several coding agents across multiple projects at the same time, it got in the way. One workspace with terminals in the bottom tray, no idea which agent was doing what and I found myself needing all the code editing tools less and less. So I built my own IDE around that workflow. Terminals are a first-class citizen, every project stays alive in the background with visual statuses. Close the workspace and come back weeks later, everything is still in its place. I've been using it for weeks and it's a big productivity boost. The…

Hi HN! I've been spending the past month on PAI, a Linux-esque harness for a personal assistant AI for your Mac. Instead of giving a chatbot a bunch of tools, I wanted to just drop the LLM into a terminal and see how it'd fare. I've been using it to manage my calendar, 5+ email accounts, and engaging with / responding to people in a timely manner (casus belli for this entire project). After seeing how other always-on assistants were designed, I thought the Unix / Linux philosophy of system design could be applied to AI harnesses, and I wanted to experiment with how it'd hold up…

I was somewhat hesitant about sharing this personal projects, especially since I just saw that cool looking Werk[1] tool posted, but I figured that my ADHD-fueled creation might still have it's own place to be. I just finished rewriting the code for a personal tool I use to automate terminal tasks while minimizing the amount of Python/Bash code I have to write. As with all other tools I create for my own use, the guiding principle is simplicity and approachability, as if the tool creates more issues or friction than it solves, I'll get discouraged from using it again. Greetings HN, I'm Nikita. I created a platform https://welovenocode.com where, at 1/10th of the cost, you can employ a no-code developer to create an MVP for your startup. The idea came from my experience four years ago with outsourcing firms. I tried to order a few designs, but they still took far more time and money than I had ever expected. Possibly because benefits have been messed up and agencies make more money for longer to suck up my project. No-code tools such as Airtable, Webflow, and Bubble began showing up at that time. I played with them, but since both…

A friend and I spent a month throwing together a visual rule engine product– wanted to share it with HN today. I've been building automation tooling for a few years at prefix.app and one of the messier things both to support and to teach users was around encoding logic in their automations– most folks get a hold of the basic concepts quite easily, but every (visual) automation tool out there seems to have their own way of actually pulling it all together. For small decisions those work great! But for bigger decisions and more complex logic we don’t think it makes much sense to be embedding…
