24 alternatives to Just Mooding

I wanted to go through every stage of launching a product, so I built a simple site that lets you discover and bookmark songs, books, movies, and food based on your mood. It has no fancy AI features, it's more like a lightweight, mood based Pinterest. I’m a developer and I built the whole thing using Cursor using an imperative approach instead of vibe coding declaratively. So even though the product itself is pretty minimal, the backend is well structured and it should give me the ability to implement future pivots fairly easily. It was mainly a learning exercise but I'd love to hear…

Hi everyone, For the past couple months I've been working on a website with two main features: - https://book.sv - put in a list of books and get recommendations on what to read next from a model trained on over a billion reviews - https://book.sv/intersect - put in a list of books and find the users on Goodreads who have read them all (if you don't want to be included in these results, you can opt-out here: https://book.sv/remove-my-data) Technical info available here: https://book.sv/how-it-works Note 1: If you only provide one or two…

I built MoodieMovie, a web app that recommends films based on how you're feeling right now. Select emotions like "cheerful," "reflective," or even "weird," and get curated movie suggestions that match your current state of mind. Features: Mood-based algorithm that actually works (no more scrolling endlessly through streaming services) Magazine-style TOP100 section showcasing essential cinema Simple, intuitive UI with smooth animations Detailed movie pages with shareable links Tech stack: Next.js, Framer Motion, and a custom algorithm that maps emotional states to film characteristics. Hey HN. I've just launched my very first webappp and would love your feedback. http://www.7bks.com It's a book list sharing website - kind of like playlists for bookworms. The site is built on pyton/appengine - and I learned to code in under 4 weeks to build the site. There's more details on the background of the site here: http://www.7bks.com/blog/179001 I've also published the full Python code for the site here: https://gist.github.com/670034 Feedback is really important to me and I want to work hard to make the site better so any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated. Hey HN! I made a website to share and discover the next big hits in music. It works like ProductHunt but for music instead of products: anyone can share their discoveries of new hits and support talented emerging artists. The result is a curation of the best new emerging music where you can find new hits daily to make your playlists shine. I’ve been working on a social media web app for reviewing works of entertainment with the hopes to compete against Goodreads and Letterboxd. I started working on this two and a half years ago and it has taught me a lot about full stack development, from Vue, and REST APIs, to hosting with AWS. It’s still very much so a work in progress, but it’s functional and I’d love any feedback I can get. I know other options exist, but I couldn’t find one that I like that had all of the different mediums, and I’d rather have them all in one place. Likewise didn’t give me enough freedom with rating, and…

I spent few months building this tool after i lost my job earlier this year, it's something like a bookmark manager but super simple to use. I also built a explore page, where people upvote and view collections people curate using linkcollect, save and share their profile. It has around 1000 public collections and 1100 users

I’ve always felt that most book recommendation engines are shallow, they either use tags or “people also liked” data. I wanted something that actually understands what you mean when you say “slow burn sci-fi with emotional depth” or “books like Harry Potter.” So I built FindReads . It uses GPT to interpret your prompt, queries for books, and returns real titles that fit the vibe. Stack: Next.js, OpenAI API, MongoDB, deployed on Vercel. It’s still a work in progress — the results are surprisingly good for some moods, weird for others, but I’d love feedback from the HN crowd on how you’d…

    Vibe▲10

Hi HN, I’m one of the founders of Vibe. As founders running a small team, we kept losing time on social media: thinking of ideas, writing posts, adapting them for each platform, scheduling, and then trying to understand what worked. So we built Vibe for ourselves. It helps us: • Turn a single idea into multi-platform posts • Auto-publish and schedule • Track engagement in one place • Run this as a white-label tool for agencies Stack: - Spring Boot + AWS - React - OpenAI APIs We’re still early and learning. Would love honest feedback: what feels useful, what feels unnecessary, and what’s…

Moodlogger is an iPhone app that lets you log your mood at any given time. The idea is to be able to share it with others and to generate statistics for users, showing how often they are [happy,angry,sad,etc.]. It was a fun exercise for me to build so I thought I'd share my (dev) experiences with you. My dad and I had a little idea to build a movie site, where the movies are tagged by what feelings they evoke instead of just genres. This was influenced by how playlists are tagged on 8tracks, and how game levels are tagged in LittleBigPlanet. We threw something functional together, and would like to get some feedback on the idea/site. It allows anyone to tag movies with a variety of adjectives, and for a user to search by them. This sort of tagging would allow us to find movies that are alike, a user to track which types of movies he/she likes, and offer a recommendation system…

It's an app for bookmarking webpages you want to remember. Just use bookmarklet to take screenshots whenever you want to bookmark a site. I made this because I'm sick of text based bookmarking websites like Delicious and Pinboard. I'll always bookmark a site and try and find it later, but because it's all text/tag based I'll have forgotten what the site is about, but I'll remember what it looks like. There's a laundry list of things I'm going to add to the site, so know it's really minimal right now. Would appreciate any feedback you have :)

Hey all, just wanted to invite you to take a spin on this project I've been working on recently. To give you a bit of context, I'm a Pinterest/Tumblr/Svpply user but found that it's all still sub-optimal. The experience of these, I guess 'social' things, is still always about "me, me, me": Pin things I like, post items I like, I want this and that etc. My point is, in my experience, this got boring relatively quickly. Plus, when I log in to Pinterest for example, it's this wall of sound of relatively (albeit nice looking) yet random things. Anyways, a few weeks back, my roommate happened to…

Howdy friends. I've been a zero to one product manager for 12 plus years and along the way I kept borrowing pieces from different discovery frameworks until I had a methodology of my own, one that actually raises the odds of an idea succeeding. This does not replace user interviews obviously, but it leads you in the right direction. Looking forward for your feedback

Hey everyone! I wanted to share a project that I've been working on the last few days that I finally finished last night: https://50books.org This is a simple site designed to track your reading list into 2015. My personal goal is to read 50 books this year, and I wanted to hold myself accountable. Major sites like Goodreads are great, but were too much of a social network for my personal taste; on the other hand, using a text file (which was my 2014 solution) was too difficult to track and share. I built https://50books.org using Sinatra, sqlite3 (via datamapper), and…
