24 alternatives to Lost Pixel – open-source visual regression testing for your frontend

Hey! My name is Dima, I am from Ukraine and I am the co-founder of Lost Pixel! We built this tool to solve our problems at work and decided to open-source it so more people can build their custom visual regression testing pipelines! If you want to chat about the tool or visual regression testing in general I am super excited to meet like-minded people! Thanks a lot for checking out the product and I hope it will serve you well if you decide to try it out :D

Lost Pixel is an open-source visual regression testing tool for frontend development. It detects unintended visual changes in web applications by comparing screenshots across versions. The tool enables developers to… Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes. Hi HN! I've found this visualization tool immensely helpful over the years for getting an intuition for how an LLM "sees" some piece of text, and with a bit of elbow grease decided to move all compute to client side so I could make it publicly available. I've found it particularly useful for - Understanding exactly how repetition and patterns affect a small LM's ability to predict correctly - Understanding different tokenization patterns and how it affects model output - Getting a general sense of how "hard" different prediction tasks are for GPT-style models Known problems (that I probably…

Hey HN, I built VizDiff, a streamlined visual regression testing tool specifically designed for Storybook components. I found existing services like Chromatic powerful, but often too feature-heavy or costly for smaller teams and bootstrapped startups. VizDiff simplifies automated screenshot testing—capturing component snapshots in CI, clearly highlighting pixel-level visual changes, and helping teams catch UI regressions before they reach production. My main goal was accessibility and ease of integration for small teams or solo devs who need effective visual testing without the overhead. I'd…

I built this app over a week as a way to learn how to use TensorFlow with Mobilenets and to get some experience with Google Play (and partly as a dare). It's written in Java, as I wasn't able to find a Kotlin API for TFLite. It was built with Bazel. I'm pretty satisfied with the actual detector's performance, although I expect I could improve the UI a little bit. It's a weird UX, as you want it to be as simple and fast as possible (loss/notloss) but you also want it to have some sort of recognizability. I would love to hear your thoughts.…

This is a personal project I've been working on for a long time now. I stumbled upon the color quantization problem while doing something related for work. I then found an interesting paper for which I could find no implementations online, and the thing went from "let's implement this paper" to getting pretty obsessed with the whole thing. It's at an early, eaaaarly stage. There's a lot of work to be done, and it's a memory hog, but generally speaking works quite well, and the output is for the most part very high quality, so I'm happy to share it as beta.

Hi everyone, Almost 2 years ago, I left my full-time job at Canon to build tooling and infrastructure to help developers write high-level tests for complex software workflows that are not easy to unit test. I wanted to take ideas from visual regression testing, snapshot testing, and property-based testing and build a general-purpose regression testing system that developers can use to find the unintended side-effects of their day-to-day code changes during the development stage. After two years of working ~70 hours per week and going through multiple iterations, we finally have a fully…

Hey , I've created Pixeleye, a cross-browser visual review and testing platform. I've found the pricing of visual testing platforms quite absurd, with companies often opting out of testing their UI's across different browsers. We offer a cloud version of our product but also provide the tools to self-host it for free. We hope this will keep our pricing honest and promote a sustainable open-source community around the project. Some of our main features include: - Cross-browser testing - Lots of integrations: Storybook, Cypress, Playwright & Puppeteer - Permission syncing - We'll sync with…

I got seriously fascinated by the new GPT-4 Vision API introduced on OpenAI DevDay, so I decided to build a UX Audit tool with it. It's pretty simple to use - just go to https://uxaudit.vercel.app and enter your homepage or landing page URL. I'm using urlbox to get a screenshot of your page, then I utilize GPT-4V to analyze the screenshot and find potential usability and conversion issues. It also suggests solutions and highlights the relevant problem areas in the screenshot (although the position is sometimes inaccurate). Please let me know your thoughts and suggestions on how to…

Hey HN! I’m Robert. I worked on [Percy’s SDKs/support from 2018–2022.](https://github.com/percy/cli/graphs/contributors) If you ever reached out to support or opened an issue, I probably helped you. Hopefully it was positive :) After a few years away, visual testing still felt stuck, so I'm building Vizzly. The problem: Design handoffs kinda suck. Designers make beautiful specs, devs implement them, then everyone realizes the details got lost somewhere. Current visual testing tools catch broken CSS but miss the real issue - making sure what ships actually…

I’ve always seen talented designers and developers post their work, only for it to get lost in the noise. I realized a major reason is that they often just post a simple, unstyled screenshot. As a result, nobody pays attention. My solution is a tool where you can drop in a screenshot, pick from a collection of hand-picked gradients, style it, and export it—all in a few seconds. I’ve carefully designed every element of the app to be efficient, simple, and intuitive. On making it "Free, Forever": I don't plan on ever charging a subscription for Moocup. I dislike the subscription model as much…
