Products that do what macOS app that helps you stay on task in realtime does
Simply enter a task name and PIPA understands the context of that task. It will gently nudge you when you get sidetracked. It works by analyzing your screen content in realtime and on device. It learns additional context based on your feedback. It does not block any applications or websites. * Please use detailed task description, about five words, to get good results. * It tracks anonymous usage metrics - only clicks on the PIPA app

I built a macOS menu bar app to track Claude usage in real time via API after hitting limits mid-flow too often. Signed and notarised by Apple. Open source. https://github.com/richhickson/claudecodeusage https://x.com/richhickson

Hi HN! I've been building Dayflow, a macOS app that automatically tracks what you're actually working on (not just which apps you have open). Here's what it does: - It creates a semantic timeline of your day; - It does it by understanding the content on your screen (with local or cloud VLMs); - This allows you to see exactly where your time went without any manual logging. Traditional time trackers tell you "3 hours in Chrome" which is not very helpful. Dayflow actually understands if you're reading documentation, debugging code, or scrolling HN. Instead of "Chrome: 3 hours", you get…

I kept slamming into Claude Code limits mid-session and couldn’t find a quick way to see how close I was getting, so I hacked together a tiny local tracker. Streams your prompt + completion usage in real time Predicts whether you’ll hit the cap before the session ends Runs 100 % locally (no auth, no server) Presets for Pro, Max × 5, Max × 20 — tweak a JSON if your plan’s different GitHub: https://github.com/Maciek-roboblog/Claude-Code-Usage-Monitor It’s already spared me a few “why did my run just stop?” moments, but it’s still rough around the edges. Feedback, bug…

We built this free little notification bar so you could add it to your site and show your opposition to PIPA/SOPA without having to black out. The text never changes, there's no account needed or anything like that, and you can take it down whenever.

Hi HN, We built Cronus, a context-aware time tracker for macOS that uses LLMs to differentiate productive tasks from distractions—even on sites like YouTube or LinkedIn. Existing apps frustrated us because they either strictly blocked useful sites or required constant manual tracking. Cronus understands context automatically: - Accurately labels productive vs. distracted time (e.g., coding tutorial vs. random scrolling) - Menu-bar mini-timer to subtly gamify productivity - Supports 24h time-tracking with ai suggestions based on calendar activity - Understand where you actually spend your…

It's a macOS menu bar app that reads the text of your focused window every few seconds through the Accessibility API. No screenshots, no video, or OCR. It writes plain markdown, one file per day, into a folder you choose. Point Claude Code (or anything with file access) at the folder and ask "what did I work on Tuesday?" or have it build memory about your projects. The folder contains an AGENTS.md explaining the format to the model. Thought it might be useful for someone so chucked it up on GitHub
