Grant Sanderson (3Blue1Brown) created Manim, the Python library he uses to make the math animations in his videos. We reimplemented Manim with the same Python API, but the implementation underneath is Rust, connected to Python through PyO3. The Rust code uses wgpu, so rendering happens on the GPU. To run it in the browser, we compiled the Rust parts to WebAssembly so the PyO3 extension loads in Pyodide. In the browser, wgpu targets the WebGPU API, so animations render in real time on your GPU through the browser. The editor is Monaco (the editor that powers VS Code) with a live preview:…

Hi HN, I'm Narek. I built Manim-Web, a TypeScript/JavaScript port of 3Blue1Brown’s popular Manim math animation engine. The Problem: Like many here, I love Manim's visual style. But setting it up locally is notoriously painful - it requires Python, FFmpeg, Cairo, and a full LaTeX distribution. It creates a massive barrier to entry, especially for students or people who just want to quickly visualize a concept. The Solution: I wanted to make it zero-setup, so I ported the engine to TypeScript. Manim-Web runs entirely client-side in the browser. No Python, no servers, no install. It runs…

I've been building prototypes of new AI learning tools for months, but I recently learned that 3blue1brown open sourced his incredible math animation library, Manim, and that LLMs could generate code for it without any fine-tuning. So I made a tool that automatically generates animated math/science explanations in the style of 3blue1brown using Manim from any text prompt. Try it yourself at https://TMA.live (no signup required) or see the demo video here: https://x.com/i/status/1874948287759081608 The UX is pretty simple right now, you just write a…

I made this simple language over the past year, and it's time for me to say it's "done" (for now) and focus on other projects. I've struggled to answer the question "what is this language for?" other than "it's just for me" — and that's probably good enough. But I also wanted to make something "complete" that others could use if they wanted to. Writing my own language was an incredibly rewarding experience, and I'd recommend everyone trying it. Let me know if you have any questions or feedback, and please share your own experience if you've also made a language.

I've used blender for more than a decade and now ask myself what the best way to teach it would look like. Video generally seems the best format to explain how to solve a specific problem, but its not exactly great for larger collections of small bits of information – like blender shortcuts. This is why I made this video/text hybrid website from scratch. If you're a blender user or have experience in teaching others, I'd be very happy to hear your thoughts on it. I'm also posting this here because I assume many of your are professional web developers. I'm a learning hobbyist and…

Motion▲207Hey HN, meet Motion — a frontier agent for motion design. Here’s how it works: 1. Give Motion a prompt — include any context like product links, X threads, YouTube videos, personal assets, and design MD. Motion will reference styles, incorporate research, and storyboard scenes. 2. Motion creates the video — it can orchestrate entire explainers, launch videos, logo animations, convert articles to video, or even add motion design to your existing videos. 3. Edit everything — after generation, edit everything directly: resize, drag and drop, modify elements. Or just chat with Motion to iterate.…

StoryMotion▲182StoryMotion is a whiteboard animation editor that combines the editing experience of Excalidraw and Keynote to make explainer animations. Everything is fully editable, both the visual elements and the timing of motion effects. Recently I added an AI feature that lets users upload documents like images or PDFs and generates both the visuals and the animation in a few minutes. I hope you find this useful. All feedback and comments are welcome.
