Ever since the DPReview closure announcement https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=35248296 we were thinking how to preserve the 25 years of valuable DPReview camera data. Archive.org has been great, but it's not usable by the general public. The best way to keep it safe going forward, is to have the community own it, so we open sourced it: https://github.com/open-product-data/digital-cameras I'm aware of a number of attempts to make product data open-sourced, but none have the power of the photo geeks behind it :) Thoughts or ideas? + really looking for…

I'm working on a pure js webgl image editor with effects, filters, crop & perspective correction, etc. My goal is to give the community an opensource solution as unfortunately most comparable apps are closed sources. https://mini2-photo-editor.netlify.app to try it out (https://github.com/xdadda/mini-photo-editor)

I saw someone post these on reddit 4 years ago, and I really wanted to make them. I was surprised they didn't open source their code, so I rebuilt it. Lots of things I would do differently now haha, but anyway, figured someone here might find it interesting.

Fun little side project I built after learning about circuit bending in cameras for intentional glitch effect. It is browser based camera toy where you "rewire" CCD pin pairs, turn knobs to get different glitch artefacts in real time to capture as photos. I had fun learning to simulate different pin modes - channel split, hue/phase shifts, horizontal clock delays, colour kill etc. Here are some photos taken: https://glitchycam.com/gallery I intentionally leaned towards skeuomorphic design for nostalgia. I miss the days where I'd spend hours making a button to look like a…

Hey HN! I'm excited to share f2, a command-line tool I built for fast and flexible bulk renaming of files. It's cross-platform (Linux, macOS, Windows), executes a dry-run by default, supports undo, and provides great flexibility in file renaming with several built-in variables and Exiftool integration. I hope you find it useful!

Hi HN, I created a photo restoration tool using the Flux Kontext model, and the results have been surprisingly good. It can restore old photos, fix scratches and damage, and even colorize black-and-white images — all in just a few seconds. It's currently completely free to use. Would love to hear your feedback!

This is the third camera I've designed/made around the raspberry pi parts/ecosystem. The repo has all the STL files, parts list, most wiring diagrams. The first one was the custom Pi Zero HQ cam which was featured on a Hackaday article/podcast. The modular version (aside from being able to swap cameras) mostly has the latest software. Recently I added the ability to process videos in the background (ffmpeg merges wav/mp4 files together). The camera uses crop-zoom-panning for dialing in shots with manual lenses. The menu is created by layering images/text with PIL.…

I started this because similar Chrome extensions were paywalling features and I wanted a free, open source alternative. I'm new to this, so I would appreciate feedback and tips if anyone has some!
