For the past few months, I've been working on a website that answers two different questions: - Where in my city have the best travel times to all the things and people I care about? - Given a listing, how far is it from all the things and people I care about? Personally this was fueled by my own frustrations when I was apartment hunting in NYC. I was frustrating to have to juggle so many Google Maps tabs when I was evaluating a listing, and it was also annoying to not have full confidence that I was even searching in the right places. I wanted to be close to work, a Trader Joe's, and a…

historically, rentals in NYC have been pretty wild. the median 1BR in West Village as of July 2025 cost $5,750/month. about a month ago, NYC passed a law to ban broker fees which many predicted would have increased rents. I realized I had access to some original data from a previous project so I built a dashboard to help me visualize the changes and see for myself. you can filter by neighborhoods, bedrooms, original source where the rentals were posted, and select a timeframe. this is still a work in progress, so apologies in advance for any issues you encounter. I would love any…

FoundersWall▲35I used to be just a blogger. Now I build internet products, still without code, using AI, design, and taste. I was building in public on X for last 2 months. And honestly, I got tired of how it became performative and started to feel fake. I shipped 2 products. Both failed to get any real traction. I kept sneaking into popular builders’ profiles, hoping to learn how they do it. One thing I kept seeing everywhere, product launch directories. I thought here is the scope. So I started building one. Same UI like the rest. Nothing special. Suddenly one day when it was half built, I realized…

http://ryd.io/ As a capstone project for Galvanize's data science immersive I took another look at the NYC Taxi data set. A ton of analysis has been done on individual rides/cars and I was curious about what story would be told by looking at this data through the aggregate. Through the clustered map you can identify different 'personalities' of the city with a birds eye view. Check it out here http://ryd.io/cluster_map I've just spent past couple weeks working hard on this project and would love to talk to anyone about it if they are interested. After the…

Hey HN! After spending years watching my community get pushed out of my neighborhood in NYC due to rising rents, I built Realer Estate to find the undervalued homes that actually exist in NYC's impossible housing market so people can find the homes that they can actually afford. The platform uses AI to: - Detect rent-stabilized listings even when landlords don't label them (using NLP + pricing anomalies) - Score properties on price-to-market ratios using real-time comps - Filter out investor-targeted flips to prioritize real people - Scrape live data from StreetEasy/Redfin and update…
