Products that do what Offline-first UK train planner does
Hey HN! I'd like to share my personal experiment with a different way of finding train journeys across the UK. When I book flights, I use sites like Kiwi and Skyscanner for flexible searches - multiple airports, custom connections, creative routes, etc. But rail search feels oddly constrained. All the UK train operators offer basically the same experience, and surface the exact same routes. I always suspected there were better or just different options that weren’t being shown. Where is the "Skyscanner for trains"? After digging through the national rail data feeds, I decided to have a go at…

Hello HN, I made the web app that helps plan your routes/road trips. It has so many options that I don’t know how to explain in simple words :), so I’ll try like this. What is cool about it is that your routes are shareable and hackable. The routes come in the format ie. https://camptarget.com/London,Uk/Vienna,AT/Istanbul,TR/5h:6d, meaning we travel from London via Vienna to Istanbul, driving 5 hours daily while our total time budget would be 6 days. At given breakpoints (after 5 hours) we can explore the nearby locality in radius of some 30-40 miles, for…

Hey HN! A long time ago I built a map of trains at trains.fyi, and then realized nobody had bought planes.fyi - so this is my new map project. It's a bunch of things, but mostly, a 3D map of aircraft around given airports, as well as the weather, ATIS, and other data sources visualized in 3D and unique ways. Like most of the stuff I build, it's got no real use, but I think it's neat. If you like planes, check out the CYYZ/KJFK map, weather, and runway tabs - I put the most work into that. Also any feature requests, questions, comments, etc are always appreciated!

Mine is just a little nodejs app with DynamoDB backend. As it turns out, Caltrain was already negotiating contracts with a company called SimplifyTransit to do the same thing. https://twitter.com/caltrainalerts/status/156787824427128013... Happy to shake things up and provide Caltrain riders with options!

I made this simple site that tells you which travel adapter you need for your next trip. I found myself googling this info and always being linked to a random article that was super long. Decided to make this crisp page that gives key info above the fold. Built with NextJS + Tailwind. I'd love some feedback and what should I add?

Hey there, I've been working on a project that helps you plan a trip by swiping through attractions like tinder. Features include: - Add places by swiping - Simple to use drag-and-drop itinerary planner - Add notes to each place - Get estimated travel and arrival times between places automatically - Automatically arrange places into your itinerary (This doesn't work that well tbh) - Share trips with friends Source code available at: https://github.com/Suu-ly/Outbound It's pretty good for planning day trips but frankly not the best for multi-day trips. Let me know what you…
