Products that do what Planes.fyi – 3D aircraft and airport visualizations does
Hey HN! A long time ago I built a map of trains at trains.fyi, and then realized nobody had bought planes.fyi - so this is my new map project. It's a bunch of things, but mostly, a 3D map of aircraft around given airports, as well as the weather, ATIS, and other data sources visualized in 3D and unique ways. Like most of the stuff I build, it's got no real use, but I think it's neat. If you like planes, check out the CYYZ/KJFK map, weather, and runway tabs - I put the most work into that. Also any feature requests, questions, comments, etc are always appreciated!

deck.gl based visualiser of the TFL Api + National Rails to be able to track (with minimal drift) a train along the way in London and to the nearest airports. If you pick one from any platform in https://nexttrain.london basically you can share your train journey along the rails. Build to test Cloudflare workers and their infra along with deck.gl performance that is incredible in my opinion.

Tokyo Trains▲13Semi inspired by the 3d Shinjuku station that was posted again recently, I noticed it was missing a large portion of the "complex" where "complex" is defined loosly has how far you can walk without stepping outside. So I asked Claude to make a 3d map of all Tokyo Trains, no libraries, and let you zoom into stations, and the first version with both map and the Shinjuku complex was ready in about 3 hours. It spent another 7 or so in various nit picky things I asked for to get to the current version. I know these will only get better but I think the thing I find most interesting is no libraries…

Hey HN! I'd like to share my personal experiment with a different way of finding train journeys across the UK. When I book flights, I use sites like Kiwi and Skyscanner for flexible searches - multiple airports, custom connections, creative routes, etc. But rail search feels oddly constrained. All the UK train operators offer basically the same experience, and surface the exact same routes. I always suspected there were better or just different options that weren’t being shown. I've been living in Denver for a few years and the prices for simple airport rides are kind of crazy. In an effort to build/expand community - I built Airport Swap. It is a platform to exchange rides to/from the airport _for free_. Give a ride to get a ride! Airport Swap is was built with the intention of building (or finding) community or relying on a circle of trust to choose drivers/riders (friends of friends pretty much). Connecting people on their street, in their building, or from a board game group they attended before is the goal. Looking for any feedback :) Cheers!

I have created a single map that lets you easily browse all bus, tram, metro, ferry and train routes. I’ve loaded some data from Europe, Israel and India. It is my first launch since I started reading Hacker News and was developed as a side project for the past 6 months or so. This was my recent weekend project, aimed at teaching me JavaScript, a bit of HTML5, and (mostly) WebGL. The orbital data are from NASA JPL. I've built this as a side project last month. I know there are a few similar sites out there, but I've found them cumbersome to navigate with ads that slow down the experience. So I decided to take a stab at it and build my own version, with a minimalist UI (+ I implemented a custom right-click menu to enable navigation even when the UI is hidden), ad-free, just for fun. There are over 130+ cities that you can explore right now, but I'm constantly adding new ones.
