Hello. I was looking for a simple and clean habit tracker. I went through a few apps but felt they were missing something. I also had some time on my hands, so decided to make my own and share it in case anyone else likes it. Some of the supported features: Streaks based, track and beat your longest streaks Fully useable offline Freezes (similar to Duolingo's streak freezes) Visual map for tracking consistency Pause the app when you need a break or will be away For anyone curious about the tech stack: - React for frontend - Dexie cloud for storage and syncing - Vercel for hosting Link:…

Look, every journaling app out there wants you to organize things into folders and tags and templates. I just wanted to write something down every day. So I built this. One note per day. That's the whole deal. - Can't edit yesterday. What's done is done. Keeps you from fussing over old entries instead of writing today's. - Year view with dots showing which days you actually wrote. It's a streak chart. Works better than it should. - No signup required. Opens right up, stores everything locally in your browser. Optional cloud sync if you want it - E2E encrypted with AES-GCM, zero-knowledge,…

Hey HN! I recently released baseline, a journaling and mood tracking app for iOS, Android, and web. If you've been looking for a better journal, or just want to work on your mental health, you should check it out! It includes: - Simple and fast journaling — just open the app and start typing. - Visualizations to help you understand your progress over time. - Screeners to help you better understand what you might be struggling with. - Customizable notifications to help you build journaling into your daily routine. - Strong privacy — personal data is encrypted with user-specific keys that I…

I'm a solo dev. A few years ago, I got addicted to Reddit. Spent months in that loop. Being a programmer, I thought I'd be clever. Redirected Reddit's domain to nowhere in my DNS file. Worked great until I'd just... open the file and undo it 20 minutes later. So I made it irreversible. Locked the DNS file so it can't be edited unless I boot my Mac in safe mode. And if I do that, there's a script that instantly locks it again. Haven't used Reddit since last year. Problem solved, right? Wrong. I just replaced Reddit with Twitch and YouTube. Started keeping streams running in the background…

I built Focuser because I kept doom-scrolling when I was supposed to work What it does You pick any time-sink site Next visit, Focuser asks, “Do you really need this site?” If you tap Yes, you must 1⃣ Write why you need it 2⃣ Choose exactly how long you need access This 20 second friction is based on Shawn Achor’s habit-formation research Why it’s different Runs 100% client-side—no analytics, no external calls Uses Manifest V3 already (future-proof for June 2025 Chrome deprecation) Works offline Settings live in localStorage Ask Does the 20-second rule feel too long or too short? Problem: You have a million things going on and stuff slips. Passport renewal, car registration, kid's doc appt, why you started going to the gym in the first place. You text yourself reminders on the go or dump it in your notes app and never look again. Solution: Faro. Text it what you need to do, and every morning it texts you the list of what's still open. Why it works: 1. It texts you every morning. Not a one-time notification, not a note you never open. Stays top of mind. 2. Done with something? Just tell it. No editing notes, no re-texting yourself a new list. 3. Zero friction. No…
