Products that do what Pinging.net – Monitor Your Internet Connection does
Unreliable internet is super frustrating right? I started working on this side project, pinging.net, in 2019 when we had a bad router that was causing internet issues on my spouse's phone. Downloading an app to run ping isn't fun and I thought it would be cool to be able to quickly "run ping" in the browser. I have worked on it off and on since then, mostly motivated when I would run into yet another internet issue (e.g. Zoom calls over Airbnb WiFi while traveling). Last week, we had yet another an internet issue where every 140 seconds our connections were getting reset. This was very…

Howdy HN! I find myself testing my ping from time to time, especially when my internet seems wonky while WFH. It feels like there should be an easier way test my ping than puling up a terminal or a complex web app - especially when I'm on my phone or any other device that doesn't have a terminal. I figured I should be the change I wish to see in the world and created this super light ping test. I also created a latency monitoring solution (https://github.com/cjjeakle/network-monitor), feel free to clone and try it out! I know there are a lot more mature monitoring…

I've frequently found myself using [nvitop](https://github.com/XuehaiPan/nvitop) to diagnose GPU/CPU contention issues. The two best things about it are: - It's easy to install if I can access pip in the container - It makes a compelling screenshot (which helps me communicate with coworkers.) With those two lessons in mind: Here is Sping! Purpose: Help observe and diagnose latency issues at layer 4+ (TCP/HTTP/HTTPS) Two good things about it: - It's easy to install if you have pip. Hi HN - I’m the developer of PingStalker, a macOS utility I built to see what’s really happening on the LAN/WLAN. I live in the CLI, but when it came to discovery and monitoring, I found it limiting. So I built a GUI that brings my favorite tools together in one place. PingStalker started because I wanted to know if something on the network was scanning my machine. I also wanted quick access to core details—external IP, Wi-Fi data, and local topology. Then I wanted more: fast, reliable scans using ARP tables and ICMP. As a Wi-Fi engineer, I couldn’t stop there. I kept adding ways to…

A server that replies to your pings faster than ever! Now with IPv6 support. Give it a minute and the response time will go down tremendously: ping ftlping.net On Windows, add an option not to stop after 4 pings: ping -t ftlping.net Works best on MacOS and FreeBSD. Not impressive on Windows but you can see something interesting if you run a packet analyser. Report issues here: https://github.com/plingbang/ftlping/issues The code may be published when my future self passes it to me.
