Products that do what Play brick breaker using webcam and hand tracking (open source) does

I built this game to test out the MediaPipe hand-tracking API. Play brick breaker using your webcam + hand movement -- levels get progressively harder with faster speed / smaller paddle. All processing is done in real-time within your browser. This project is built using javascript, html canvas, and mediapipe hand tracking. This game is free and open source, offered under an MIT license. Github repo: https://github.com/collidingScopes/manual-brick-breaker Hope it's fun for you -- would love to hear feedback and suggestions for improvement.

Hi HN! I made many small web games in the past with Unity or Phaser. But this time I wanted to make something completely on my own. So I coded a basic game framework in plain JavaScript, and used it to make Almost Pong. This was a really fun project that taught me a lot about JavaScript, and I plan to make more minimalist games with this framework. Interesting fact: Almost Pong doesn't load any assets, all sprites and sounds are generated with code. Happy to answer questions, and please let me know if you have any feedback on the game. Thanks!

Hi HN ! This is an open source project I've been working on for a while. It's actually the third breakout-like game I've built. I really like the simplicity of the concept, having just one input (the puck horizontal position) and a simple gameplay that gives a low skill floor. My girlfriend and I played a lot of the excellent LBreakoutHD, an open source breakout game that follows the traditional formula of having multiple lives, scoring points by breaking bricks and catching the good upgrades that spawn randomly and fall down, while avoiding bad upgrades. She liked this game because it is…

Hey Everyone! I wanted to show my passion project I made a few years back and recently turned into a web app. Airdraw is an app that takes in your hand gestures and converts it into real time drawing capabilities. There are tons of stuff I want to build with this, but most importantly just put it out into the world! Hope you all enjoy :) Tested on my MacOS with Chrome, Safari, and FF I included a link to the original GH project I wrote here - https://github.com/arefmalek/airdraw and a link to the blog where I explained how I made it here -…

I recently dug my Nintendo GameCube out of storage to revisit the first Animal Crossing game. Things were mostly as I remembered, but the game's heavy reliance on a clunky on-screen keyboard quickly wore my patience thin. Unwilling to accept this subpar experience, I did what any rational person would do and ordered a rare, Japan-exclusive, keyboard/controller hybrid on eBay, then used a Raspberry Pi Pico to 1. listen for keypresses and 2. send simulated controller events to the GameCube, automating typing in Animal Crossing at a Tool-Assisted Speedrun level. Of course, this oddball…

Hi HN, I made a keyboard emulator that tracks your body pose and emits the key presses accordingly. My main motivation was to make my kids move more on rainy days. I already made a couple of mini-games using the body pose [1-3], and those were definitely fun to make and play! However, once the kids learned the tricks, they got bored. I could only produce that much content myself, and soon realized that I lack time for churning out games. Finally, I decided to tap into an endless pool of PC games, preferrably simple and less addictive ones like the Gameboy and DOS games. This project has been…

Hi HN, I wanted to share a web game I’ve been building in HTML, JavaScript, MySQL, and PHP called LINEX. It is primarily designed and optimized to be played in the mobile browser. The idea is simple: you have an 8x8 board where you must place pieces (Tetris-style and some custom shapes) to clear horizontal and vertical lines. Yes, someone might think this has already been done, but let me explain. You choose where to place the piece and how to rotate it. The core interaction consists of "drawing" the piece tap-by-tap on the grid, which provides a very satisfying tactile sense of control and…

My background project for the last two years has been re-implementing my 2004 C++ shoot'em up game in TypeScript + WebGL, and it's finally done (just in time for the 20th anniversary!) Play the game online: https://nicollet.net/blog/darklaga/darklaga.html Technical article about the remake: https://nicollet.net/blog/darklaga/remake.html I have tested Firefox, Chrome and Edge on desktop and mobile (no access to a device capable of running Safari). It's amazing how much difference 20 years makes: the hardware is so much more powerful, the web…

Idea: How about a 5 minute game I can play in my browser and it's actually fun to play. Controls: Mouse or keyboard (left/right, left alt/right alt or A/D), space and esc are pause toggle. Page up / Page Down are next or previous level (if already unlocked). Cheats: Z toggles zapper, M toggles magnets. Debug stuff: I, P, E keys are toggles for various stuff (E lets you change some aspects of physics engine). Game is maybe playable on mobile devices, there is a menu on top right, and then click the circle to select type of control. Physical engine is decoupled from refresh…

Tippy Coco is a volleyball game in the browser. You can play with a friend at the same keyboard, or solo challenge the built-in opponents. As for the tech: it's all TypeScript + HTML5. I did not use a game engine; I just made a game loop with setTimeout and the artwork is all just png's drawn on the canvas. The sound is played through the HTML audio API. Input is watching keyboard events and the Gamepad API. One thing: I know this is 2023 but it's not a game for phones. It's for a laptop or desktop PC with a physical keyboard. It also works ok on an iPad with a physical keyboard. Tippy Coco…
